Im thinking about buying either the Nightstar or Mad Cat 2 packages, but Im torn. Which chassis is gonna give me the most flexability? I just wanna see where this discussion goes. Thanks!

Mad Cat Mk II.

1: PPC/Gauss or some combo of 4 lasers and gauss (also has 2M if you want to use those)
2: C-Bill Scorch with JJ capability
4: Kinda meh, has 4E and 4M
A: Almost literally a 90 ton Timberwolf Prime
B: 4B, can run the Kodiak dakka build
DS: 6E/2B, your gauss vom overlord

Nightstars are handicapped for the most part with hand actuators so you might not be able to fit some stuff.

MKII - Deathstrike or 1 variant.

I prefer the MK II by far.

I have at least decent builds on all the MK IIs I have, on the other hand I don't like any of the Nightstars.

Whenever buying MWO mechs/packs with real currency, you usually get more value buying clan instead of sphere.

But yeah, definitely go MCII. Pretty much all of them are beastly. You can always buy a couple Nightstars for cbills at a lower cost later.

All I can say is that my triple AC10 Nightstar is a beast with good punch, decent range, fair speed, tanks well, and brings ample ammo. YMMV

As someone who owns the Ultimate Pack for the MCII and the Standard + Reinforcement Packs for the NSR, I can very easily state that the MCII is a much better chassis. The NSR is a neat mech, especially the 3 AC10 + 2 ERML -9P and the fun-but-stupid 2 AC20 + 4 ML -9S. But I would not suggest buying the pack, as the other variants in it feel mediocre at best.

I have a quad LB10X Nightstar 9P that is a beast.

My favorite is the Nightstar Wolf Phoenix. I run 4 MRM20s and 4 ERML. 2000 missles, and that thing is a consistent performer.

Plus, it just looks cool.

The Mad Cat II is a better overall mech but I'd say you'd be good with either.

And Cat is soon on CBills...., you know for budget oriented. And salt will flow in most fabulous ways.

The Mad Cat IIs poop all over the Nightstars. You really need to understand that they are not at all comparable, in raw combat effectiveness.

It depend if you want to use it in faction play on IS side. If not, clan tech is more powerful.

But I can do that on the loyalty Victor and run circles, whilst jumping around a Nightstar.... Seem undergunned to me but I really appreciate why you'd like the three ten's. Cycle time and range is great and no heat to speak of spamming alpha's for days on even the hottest maps.

MCII is the shark, with clout and lots of teeth. Nightstar is tuna, with nice belly fat to chew through and nothing much to go offensive with. I felt my Nightstar purchase was a wasted one because it doesn't perform consistently, even compared to Awesomes.

Choose if you want to be the hunter or the hunted.

Edit: bad grammar.

They dont even compare.
The angry kitty is the best mech in the game right now.
The night star can only do a few things well.
Madcat does everything well.

Hell it can even outscorch the scorch.

But if you paid attention to past trends... clan mechs that are considered too good almost always get nerfed after they go to cbills.

madcat mk2 is likely to get nerfed in january or february patch
