Hi, been away from the game for a few years and looking to buy a Clan mech. Looking for advice on what to buy, prefer heavies or assault mechs.

If you have been gone a while and just want to jump back in with minimal effort, I’d say the Marauder IIC is probably the best overall assault for that purpose. Still moves like a heavy but hits damn hard and is durable. Doesn’t need full skills tree to be playable. MC-II is certianly a heavier hitter (especially the Deathstrike) but it still feels pretty slow to me. Stay away from Kodiaks. Warhawks can be a thing of beauty in the right hands but ya really need the skills tree maxed to make em work. Dire is not new player friendly as it moves like a brick and in QP is going to get left behind and eaten by maurading lights.

If you are looking at something lighter, I recommend a laser vomit or ERLL Hellbringer. Its pretty easy to make it work in QP. If you are more aggressive: Linebackers with SRM spam or MPL are fun (especially in groups). Timbers are not as agile as they should be and Night Gyrs despite having even less agility make up for it with wonderful hard point locations. Ebon Jags are probably the most diverse of all the Clan heavies as you can build them into pretty much anything, but I still think for a “jump right in and play” type of mech a Hellbringer is the way to go.

Ebon Jaguar....you can basically run every build with that mech and is a fast one with 81kph. Other than that....Assaults...try the Marauder IIC or the Warhawk, both very strong, although more limited in variety.

Thanks for the advice guys, the game has moved on since I last played. Left not longer after the original Clan mechs were released. I fancy the Hellbringer as it was always one of my favourites (along with the Summoner) in MW3. Time to spend some credits Posted Image

If you like high mounts, great armor, and good speed, you can't really go wrong with the MCII. (Mad Cat Mk II)

For heavies definitely the Hellbringer. Make sure to grab the omnipod that gives you ECM, it's a real lifesaver. One of the best LasVomit mechs in the Clan arsenal.

agree with others. Marauder iic on assaults. superior mech. Heavies, hellbringer performs well, but also the ebon jag is a beast. if you want to jump, then the night gyr is your best option, quite tanky, even though they nerfed it's mobility.

if you think 81 kph is too slow, there is the stormcrow (55t) and linebacker 65t) that will run 97 kph. both of them are splendid flankers, but i personally favor the linebacker slightly as it is more versatile, and feels more durable.

i also want to make a word for the highlander iic: tankiest clan assaults at this day that can still deal a punch, while going 10 kph faster than a dire.

if you insist on going with a summoner, there is a popular double er ppc build, although arguably not as good anymore. the other builds on summoners feel quite underwhelming.

Own 3 Hellbringers, solid choice.

The Ebony Jag would be my next choice for a heavy, the Linebacker for something with speed that's also tough enough to take a beating.

Summoner with a bunch of PPCs or lasers. it's easy mode.

Great question and I am in exactly the same spot you are. After watching MANY YouTube videos and remembering my love (but not success) with the Orion, I picked up an Orion IIC brawler with the MC sale yesterday. I have been a >50% pub noob with limited success in an Atlas DDC and the Orion protector. I like Max armor, heavy, brawling firepower and <80 kph speed if I have my choice. I have tried the Orions but could never quite make them work. I loved the Victor, but never really understood how to play it. The purchase Orion IIC and learning a STRONG lesson in patience have completely changed my game. IF you check my stats, I have played MANY mechs and most with not much success, typical pub noob, but the small sample of gameplay in the IIC is so anomalous I wanted to check the forums and see if I am alone in the strange surge of success. The key to my success has been this video https://youtu.be/g7eGOCT9fx0 I would love think I have made some quantum leap in this game, but the evidence suggests otherwise.... Good luck!

OP, if you enjoy JJs and/or sniping, Summoner is your mech. Throw a pulse laser in there and you can brawl with these too.

Ebon Jag is often called a 'glass cannon' but it can pack a very serious punch.

OP, I just acquired the Orion ll-C Skill and I love it, of course I have the IS Orion Mastery Bundle as well. Currently only playing heavy and assault Hero mechs/Omnis to maximise my Premium Time.

The Linebacker is a great mech. I also think the Timber Wolf Variants are very good. On the assault side: MAD-IIC-D and MCII-I

I just acquired some Linebackers so I don't have an opinion yet. The other Clan Mechs mentioned I don't have. I liked the Warhawk and I love the Direwolf UV, you may want to start with that one. You need the S right and left omnipods, these give you JJs, Energy, and Missle hardpoints. Other torso omnipods give you dual ballistic or missle hardpoints. I am trying to get the hang of ATMs so three missle hardpoints allows use of one ATM3 in the CT, and 2 more ATM3 in the left torso. UV right and left arms allow 2 ballistic slots per arm. I like an LBX2 and a LMG in each arm. The S omnipods allow 2 additional LMGs one in each torso. Direwolves are slow but can carry diverse payloads.

Mad Dog if you want to get into various missile builds, especially SRM brawling. Mad Dog is pretty squishy though (unless you get the C omnipods but that turns you into a Ballistic brawler) so you have to be careful.

3 Hellbringers and a Shadowcat is my perfect Clan Deck. Linebackers are my SRM smashers.

I just got this KDK-3 for my Clan account and anyone can play it.

Buddha, I run a KDK-3 with 4 lbx-10 and 2 Heavy ERML. i reduced the engine a few notches to add in the lasers, it allows a much better K/D rate as I get a lot of kills firing the lasers after I've smashed CT with guns. A few KPH makes no real difference in the scheme of things.

Give some knowledge of how you enjoy to play. But hope you enjoy it.

Might suggest the Nova Cat. I'm loving this thing .
