It worked even better than I had hoped.

Took a hit to some nice quirks, but it works. 3x damage at a certain range where you can't miss easily and ams won't matter much is very nice. They said I could boat whatever I wanted so I boated ammo. No need for advanced zoom anymore I guess (unless I want to make headshots?).

I think light active probe still works against ecm...

Have fun with it while you still can, at T4. :)

But I'm still tier 4 at heart. Why do I have to go to tier 3?

Is the missile spread node helpful for ATMS?

Spread nodes do help ATMs.

kitfox still needs better structure buffs

a slow 30 ton mech thats the size of a 40 ton mech just isnt good for survivability

and it doesnt get the firepower of the adder either

Ya.

Until the walking barn door that is the Thanatos gets freakin' armor quirks to make up for the fact that it is in fact, easier to hit than the broadside of a barn, no armor quirks for mech pilots without belly buttons!

Start using a joystick and laser weapons. That just might stop you from getting any higher.

when you get to tier 1 you can start using a steering wheel like all the pros Posted Image

you dont even need a fully working steering wheel. it just has to be able to turn left to nascar counterclockwise.

theres a lot more mechs than the thanatos that need armor quirks

probably one-third of the mechs in the game have major scaling or hitbox issues

But honestly PGI needs to find some way of making geometry and hitboxes less important. armor quirks arnt really a good long term solution. Quirks should only be a stop gap measure till something better is put in place.

PGI seems to have no intention of fixing mech balance though. Because of solaris dividing mechs into divisions. If they planned on balancing mechs there would only be one division.

I think the only way to make hitboxes/geometry have less gameplay impact would be to go full Mechassault and just make every mech have a single hitbox and health pool. Of course, that would destroy the flavor and differentiation of the PC MW series and is thus not really an option.

something like energy draw would potentially help by limiting alphas. ghost heat still has too many loopholes. energy draw would cut out the loopholes.

and increasing the agility of mechs so they can distribute damage across their locations better

although assaults shouldnt have too much agility like before

Range is terrific for ATMs.

No, not because you can shoot a missle 1200+ meters.

Because you now deal more damage sooner as your 2 and 3 damage rangebands also increase with everything else.

Range, velocity, spread. These are what are good for ATMs.

Well, it looks like molten made a build that should work for tier 3+ gameplay (I assume he's tier 1 by now) that does roughly the same thing:

you must go closer...

Splatfox A/24:
KFX-D - 4x A/SRM-6

Splatfox 36:
KFX-G - 6x SRM-6

What you do is you try to sneak up on a sniper or lurm assault and shotgun their arse at point blank range. Even if you don't kill them they will be overcome by crippling paranoia.
