One of the barriers I sometimes hear from those who have tried the game through Steam is that they cannot use their Steam Wallet funds to directly buy things in MWO. While direct-purchasing in the Store may present logistical and technical hurdles (because of the different prices for MC bundles, etc,) it should be possible to sell MC bundles for the same price, allowing people who have Steam Wallet funds (e.g. through Christmas presents) to purchase individual 'mechs in the game store.

I don't know what kind of deal Piranha have with Valve, but if they sell MC for Steam wallet, they'll have to give Valve something like a 30% cut, like they now also have to for the Steam Store packages.

I'm curious if Piranha have to pay a cut to Valve for Steam players buying on MWOMercs.com. Elite Dangerous has a deal like that in place, they were otherwise refused Steam access for their existing players, I believe. The F2P game Survarium has both an ingame Steam wallet shop and an out of game shop with other payment methods, with somewhat differing prices - basically guiding players towards the storefront with less or no cut to Valve.

EDIT: Nevermind, it's actually the only way to buy MC ingame (launching through Steam), with Steam Wallet funds. There's no other payment method available. Or are you talking about paying an exact dollar amount, as opposed to first buying MC with the Steam Wallet?

There is no way to buy MC directly with Steam Wallet funds, unless there's something in the Steam client that does that? I've used the in-house client since I started, and saw no reason to let Steam get its grimy claws on more of my games than I can help.
