Or are they just novelties.. Some are saying they do nothing others say the give 5% which is which.

Only the items what were given as a bonus for buying both mechs from either IS or clan from faction warfare update provide the bonuses. Gold ones what people got randomly do not. Easy way to tell is equip it then hover over the mech it's equipped on in the mech bay till it flips over as shows what xp/ credit bonus it receives.

The blue C-Bill ones & purple XP ones (marked as "IS only" or "Clan only"), coming in both standing and hanging varieties, come with Collector's / Ultimate purchases of faction paired Civil War & Civil War: Escalation packs. Each provide a stacking 5% bonus when equipped.

The gold C-Bill hanging item was introduced with the Marauder, in relation to the bounty Hunter II Hero, but is only cosmetic.

The bronze MC hanging item was introduced with the 2017 Loyalty Annual Rewards Program, rewarded for buying any amount of MC, but is only cosmetic.
