Faction Play One Minute Countdown Timer Increase Proposal

This is my first time writing in a feedback request. I have over 6,000 hours playing MWO logged on my steam account, and have played over 3000 invasion matches.

I firmly believe that increasing the one minute countdown timer before a match begins would be greatly appreciated by the Faction Warfare community. It would allow teams more time to prepare their drop deck for the particular map / game mode they are playing.

Problem:
Currently, when a 12 man invasion group is created, the server puts the group into a lobby. The lobby will have a 10 minute countdown timer while "waiting for the opposing team to form", or a one minute timer to "select your mechs and prepare for battle" when an opposing group is already formed. The problems only arises when the group is put into a lobby with a one minute timer. Even with ideal conditions, one minute is not enough time to build a drop deck for a particular map and game mode.

In one minute a player must:

1) Talk to the caller if he's on comms, or chat to the team in the in-game window to determine what mechs the group is bringing.

2) Click on the edit dropdeck button.

3) Select between, potentially, hundreds of mechs to make a deck meeting exact tonnage requirements

4) Click the Save button.

5) Click the Select button.

Please note: I purchased the additional two drop decks AND have played over 3,000 invasion matches, and still regularly drop with the wrong deck for that particular map / game mode because I didn't have enough time.

For inexperienced players, or players with only two drop decks it is overwhelmingly stressful with relief coming only from the fact that they generally don't have as many mechs to sift through in order to build the deck.

Players also have situations which require they leave their computers momentarily. Often, they'll ready up for the next match (when they're in a group) and step away for: Bio-breaks, to smoke, return a text, grab a drink of water or a snack, ect ect.


Solution:

1) Increase the one minute "prepare for battle" countdown timer by an additional minute.

Additionally

2) Allow players to purchase between 8-16 additional drop deck slots. Popular consensus between loyalist players is 8 drop decks per player. However, merc players that often switch between IS and Clan didn't think 8 would be enough.

You're getting a SUPPORT from me on this one. I've been caught by this problem as well. The only thing that I might think different on is that the Final Pre-Drop Timer should only be raised to 90 seconds, instead of 120 seconds. Otherwise, we invoke the possibility of people complaining more than they do now about it taking too much time to get into a Match. Other than that, I really like the idea of More Drop Decks becoming available. Weirdly, I understand why Mercs would want way more, seeing as they wouldn't want to have to repeatedly re-define based on what side they're on. :huh:
