As camouflage is supposed to ...ummmm ....camouflage....
perhaps there might be an option to choose camouflage during the minute before drop -when we know which map will be played...
or.... an option in the mechlab or whatever which allows choice of camo for specific maps.
otherwise it is just neato colors and patterns

Not a bad idea in theory however there's not a great chance of seeing it happen.
This concept involves a moderate amount of in-engine coding, PGI doesn't have a great track record with this. Secondly, mechs with 'camo' tend to stick out as a dark(er) shape no matter the map, unless it's really dark - like HPG. So practically I don't imagine most players doing more than accounting for a small fraction of maps and ignoring other cases except on a thematic role-playing level.
At the end of the day, while this is a cool feature that we may see in MW5 (because UE4 development is easier and faster) and perhaps might have meaningful impact there (UE4's rendering tech is pretty great too), in MWO I'd rather see what little of PGI attention there is going to better needed features.

Go with universal camo (noob green).
Faction play let you select mechs and even dropdecks before the match.
Other than that, min/maxing is already an issue, i'd rather not having it affect camos as well.
