I'm trying to optimize a CPLT-K2 build with 4 medium lasers and 2 ballistic weapons. I have the ballistic weapons narrowed down to between 2 AC10s or 2 LB10Xs. Either way, my alpha strike will be 40 points, but I'm not sure which is more practical.

If I take the AC10 cannons, I'll be able to deliver 40 points of damage to one spot. However, with a Light Engine 280, I could only take 3 tons of ammo. Full magazine capacity will give me 72 rounds, or just 36 salvos.

On the other hand, LB10X cannons are a ton lighter and also a little bit cooler, and they have greater range. I can take 5 tons of ammo giving me 120 rounds, or 60 salvos. But their damage is nowhere near as focused as AC10s.

So which is more beneficial, 2 AC10s, or 2 LB10Xs? Thanks for any insight you can provide.

LBX spreads damage. AC10 does not.

Range means nothing when @ 500m you are sandblasting a mech (which is what LBX10s do at that range).

AC10 wins out.

I tend to advise people to avoid the LB series of AC/s for the IS, as the lack of concentrated damage is not worth the increased crit chance I find.

This is what I would be more likely to run using a 280LFE on a K2:

CPLT-K2

Yes it shows a lower alpha of 30, but that is misleading as the twin UAC/10's give me the option to double tap to push the firepower up to 50.

That being said, if you really don't want to deal with the very minor duration of the burst from the UAC/10's then I would advise going with the standard AC/10's.

HPPC or bust. If I wanted to run AC-10 I would recommend a Jager or Rifleman.

I have to admit that I shied away from the UAC direction because the K2 does not have a negative jam chance quirk. But on your advice I tried it and I'm very pleased. Despite the more than occasional weapon jam, it deals quite a bit of damage. I think I've found a K2 build I can work with. Thanks for the help.

One AC-10, one HPPC,and 3 Medium Lasers work great as well thanks to Ash and Baradul I know.
