Can we get a better visualization for friendly arty/air drops, we need it.
I got 2 penalties over the last week because team members thought it is a good idea to walk into red smoke
Can we get a big red circle/stripe covering the full area of the arty/air strike on the ground with a red light radiating throughout the entire circle/stripe towards the sky so even the blindest guy on your team can see that he is about to walk into an friendly arty/air strike
Ofc only visual to your own team

would be nice is arty and air strikes were different colour, and enemy friendly were different color

like lets say enemy air: yellow, enemy arty: red, friendly air: green, friendly arty: blue or something

wouldn't hurt if smoke was a little more visible on thermal too

In the meantime, call out your strikes, that’s what the high-tier units do.

I think the mini-map would be perfect for this.

Edit: To specify, the in-cockpit mini-map, not the battlegrid.

I don't think thats a good idea. Since friendly and hostile strikes to damage to anyone anyways no one shoul step into any strikes at all.

however if you color them, you just open another way to troll teammates for those trolls out there intentionally leading other s to tk's and getting penalty times. All i would need is a low/no armored light jumping into own colored strikes and the trolls get a lot statisfaction.

Once a strike is placed, it ain't friendly to anyone any more.

exactly, would be nice if you didnt have to do that

air strikes are linear and go past the smoke, knowing where the friendly mechs and likely enemies are, depending on whether friendly/enemy you can much better predict exactly how it will land without looking for airplanes in the sky

Or! Forgive friendly damage button to end of game screen.
In scouting especially where FF limit for each penalty step is ~40? one airstrike can trigger 3 steps from 1 friendly that happens to run along the that strike.... and then party waits 5 minutes.

Probably have a marker placed on the friendly's smoke grenade. like there is for mechs. It'll give the type of strike and it's location, to help allies notice it and avoid it.

It would be much nicer if their mechanics were improved to add even better tactical depth in game play. Removing them just removes that potential and just furthers the slide of MWO into a meaningless and generic "Rock 'Em, Sock 'Em" arena stompy robot game.

It's easier than that. Just put the outline on the mini-map. An oblong outline is a friendly airstrike, and a circular outline is a friendly artillery strike. And although you didn't mention it...you shouldn't know what kind of strike the enemy ones are unless you see the aerofighter.
