How about this fool(me) who was playing with 6 HLLs in the lab/testing ground in my supernova... then accidentally dropped with them not knowing I still had them on....and blew myself up alpha-ing upon landing 2 seconds into the game.....

I need potato cap or dunce cap...un-real...my whole team burst out laughing at me over comms Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

Jumped over a hill with my Assassin, using up all my fuel, and landed right in front of 12 flanking enemies. I think I survived for about 3 seconds. Assassin OP.

Long, long ago dropping in a heavy without any armor. Okay hear me out on this one:

It was late at night and i just bought a Jagermech (when they came out, for a time reference). Whenever i buy a new mech i strip everything out and all the armor.

(My process for armor is: Strip all -> Add 2 to each rear torso -> fill the rest from there.)

So this time, i did everything backwards... stripped all the armor and added the engine/dakka. It was late and i was on the verge of falling asleep in my chair right then and there so i saved it and logged off/went to sleep. Came back the next day, wanted to try out my new toy since it was all built the night before (or so i thought) and just insta-dropped not even thinking about it. Just, "Yeah, BoomJager sounds good right now.". Come to find out there is absolutely no armor anywhere LOL. Let me tell ya, i was not the first one to peek over the crow's nest on frozen city. Walked away with 2 kills and 300-400 damage though, so there's that. Glad i was served fresh potatoes from the farm. Posted Image

Later on in MWO i did close to the same thing with the HBK-IIC(O), i was wondering why it was so squishy compared to others that had them, that's because it had stock armor LOL. Mistakes happen, as long as you don't do the same thing often you're fine.

My first is still the best
I was still pretty new and when I got killed I took my first screen shot and I jumped on the general section on the forums (1st time on general section)
and started complaining how can I get killed by a targeting error I said

someone pointed out that was the pilot name

after that I could not reach the key board I was so small

When you try to flame-headshot someone and he just blasts away your own head with dual LB20X because you did not read his loadout before engaging. Posted Image

A long time ago, I had several 'Mechs which were drop-capable but not drop-ready while I finished building them out (I've since gotten into the habit of pulling the engine from anything that isn't 100% ready to rock). One of these was an Atlas DDC.

I landed in that match with two medium lasers and no other offensive armament whatsoever, because I'd pulled the other weapons off and forgotten that I did it. The really embarrassing part was the death, though.

Ammo explosion.

my most stupid derp was when I was testing heat while running with my spider, so I alphad the ground and suddenly got a hitmarker.
Lesson for all new pilots:
A jenner fits SNUGGLY under the belly of a spider.
God was that guy pissed off at me.

Other times include stuff like accidentally alphaing my Novastar (I trolled with 12 HML) and basically nuking myself while not doing a lot of damage to the THREE ASSAULTS infront of me.

Dropped in the other night after switching my controller settings back to having 3 analogs and didn't triple check that I had all the movement/aim settings correct.

Ended up having no pitch control for a match. Ended up being less of a problem as me not remember which buttons fired which groups, but still pretty annoying for 7 minutes.

Sorry guys I have the DERP to rule them all.

I was fairly new so I was doing module swapping to cut down on costs, who would have thought last night when I striped the modules to go to bed I had miss clicked and I had actually stripped the armor of my commando, the first thing I heard that match was betty whining about leg critical damage just by going down a slope in Canyon lol, I didn't understand what was going on fro a few seconds, then I realized there was no armor at all, the rest of the match was really fun commenting with my friends on TS, btw it was a short match for me :P

You say it's not so derpy after all? This thread not over? Then wait to hear this: I was having so much fun commenting with my friends on TS the mistake I totally forgot about it and launched a second match without armor!!!

I ran around short by 30 points of armor on my Supernova Boiler for months. I'd stopped playing it because it was too squishy!
Darn stock armor.

Shot several friendlies in the back before I figured that one out...Posted Image

I have climbed the highest peaks of Mount Derp, then jumped in a rocketship to blast to levels unknown by others. My derp is derp without compare and I shan’t take the time to give voice to all of my glorious exploits but they are legion and spectacular. From playing with out a keyboard to building some of the dumbest builds you have ever seen; and those were on purpose. My “accidental” derps are even more epic.

No my fellow derp warriors, you may have occasion to smack your forhead with a touch of humor, and more than a touch of embarrassment, at some momentary lapse in judgement, but take heart in knowing that there are folks like me who are in a constant sense of derpy self-dismay nearly every moment that we play this game.

Now excuse me, I have to go play my 4SPL, 2 HMG MK-II. The DPS is gonna be tremendous. I hope I remember all 22 tons of ammo, it would be so embarrassing to forget.

1. Rebuilt a Catapult, starting with all the weapons I wanted, then a standard engine, then heat sinks and sensors and jump jets thinking "This load out is great!" Of course I forgot armor.

2. Forget which mech it was, but it had AMS. No ammo, but it had AMS. I think I played it that way for over a month before realizing it. Then another few weeks before remembering to rebuild it in lab.

3. Went to get a beer. Forgot I hit Quick Play before I got up -> AFK death. (Not as bad as an old teammate who fell asleep as we launched back in MW4. 3v3 game, two of us spent the entire time defending his mech on our drop while listening to him snore over coms, and we won.)

4. "What the hell! Why won't my missiles launch? I switched from SSRM's to regular SRM's so I could drop BAP and not worry about locks!" (Too bad I forgot to switch the ammo.)

5. Scouting in Locust on Canyon. "I'll just check around this corner, I thought I saw a blip on the mini -" (Dual AC20 dead.)

The trial nova had 12 lasers and it wasn't uncommon to see players blowing themselves up at the start of a match. This was a few years ago though - haven't seen it in a long time.

The worst part for me was sitting there confused staring at my heat bar going WTF was that!? ...confused as to why I only saw blue lasers.... when i finally realized what was happening, i reached for my cool shot to possibly save myself, and before i hit it....splat, dead. Though i doubt it would have saved me anyway.

I wouldn't call this an embarrassing derp. But considering a time in closed/early open beta where the enemy team was largely disadvantaged I thought it'd be a great time to get some footage. I even announced that it was all I was gonna do. So I filmed a bit and then someone shot me. So I killed him... or so tried, but a swagger-walking Hunchback swooped in and stole that. And then someone else shot me in the back.

So I walked up to him all the while showing him what does the 'Mech say... and then I stopped in front of him and I just had to ask....if he had any Grey Poupon. His answer was to shoot me. So I quickly dismissed him.

What kind of pilot doesn't bring Grey Poupon to the battlefield?
