Grid Iron Saved By Civil-War?

HBK-GI HGR - HGR [4t] + ERML
Another build i am intrigued is an MRM40 build -- i thought of making use of the hunch as the shield, and it made for a very resilient Hunchback as a result. I believe that the ERML helped the IS as a whole, so i don't feel like applauding it here.
HBK-GI MRM-Shield - MRM40 + 3x ERML + 2x LMG [1t]
And then the Rocket-Launchers, sure it's one-use, but at least that RL20 can have some nasty peekaboo one-time damage. I mean what i could make Grid-Iron work is practically what also works with other variants, that makes it hardpoint selections or quirks not as special. Now with the HGR and MRM40, i feel that it breathed a new life with GI.
Does anyone else also share the sentiment?

Haven't tried an MRM40, at least you won't be rendered useless as quick. Grid Iron forever just a gimmick fun mech.

Usually quirks like that work for more specific weapons, but not sure, should get to mechlab and check cooldown.
but even if it works vs 4G
20% cooldown vs 10% cooldown
0% range vs 15% (very useful for HG)
0% velocity vs 25% (HG velocity is "only" 1500m/s and that quirk gets it very close to normal gauss velocity)
0% crit hit chance vs 25% (might help a bit for that HG not to explode, Annihilator has 15% quirk and sometimes I'm wondering why my HGs are still there after half of internals are gone.)
22 internal structure outside of the hunch vs 0
personally I would take that range, velocity and crit received quirks vs 10% cooldown + few structures, I would love GI to be good'ish for some kind of niche role again but meh nerfed to death and collecting dust, like too many other mechs in my collection.

Yes.
Civil War tech did help the Grid Iron, but not really enough. MRMs fill in that single missile point far better than SRMs ever did, but an MRM40 is still not enough for a mech its weight, and while the HGR Grid Iron can be fun, it's slow and heavily dependent on the team to set kills up for you. And the hunch is still a giant shot magnet.
It's better than it was, but still not good.

Your build has room for upgrading to normal Ferro like this, so you can add some armour back.
Personally I think the best build is still regular gauss, with the CW upgrades being LFE and ER meds. Like this.
I've tried to make super rapid fire 2x light gauss on it but it's just not enough tonnage sadly, because that could have been something.

I tried some of the newtech on it and just reverted back to this in the end.
