Seriously. Stop calling my Mad Cat MKII an LRM boat because it has two LRM10s as a sidekick missile. It also carries 4 Heavy Medium Lasers and twin Gauss Rifles. Just because you see an LRM launcher tacked on to a 'mech does not mean they are just some stupid LRM boat.

Thank you for your time.

Why are you even wasting tonnage on them, though? Between the bunny ears and the fact that you're losing weight and crit slots that could go for Gauss ammo or DHS, it's definitely a waste to even carry a pair of them on such a solid mech.

While I may not agree with your build, if you end up on the same team as I do, I will do my best to help you and the others on my team.

I will also refrain from calling your mech a boat if that is something you desire and since you have taken the time to make me aware of this (not that I am one of the persons in question).

Hope you have a good night.

The honest answer is that I want the aesthetics of the ears. There are certain 'mechs that have an iconic look that I feel like I must have and the ears on the Timber Wolf and the Mad Cat MKII are a couple of them. The big round shoulder missile pot on the Summoner is another, which is why my Summoner sports an ATM12. I would prefer to use ATMs on my Mad Cat but the tonnage for that and two Gauss Rifles just is not there.

That's the default build for the MCII. Perhaps he likes to run it stock? :P

Okay. That's an answer I can understand, though I don't particularly agree with it. It ain't my mech, though, so you do you.

Is it really? I literally stripped all of my MCIIs the instant they were put in the game so I could start messing around with loadouts, so I have no idea what they have stock.

I would stop caring what people THINK they know about what you're doing. Less stressful that way. I used to care. Then so many times I tried to type what I was about and get shot up by enemies. It's a waste of time and typing. DGAF and run what you want.

Your answer reminds me of the days when I got my first Mad Dog. My friend suggested on odd build to me that it turned out I REALLY enjoyed playing. It was a Mad Dog that had 5 MPLs and 2 LRM10s. The LRMs were merely a closing weapon and the real fireworks were in the MPLs which, back then, 8 damage each which was a (at the time) whopping 40 damage. It was quite common for people to target my Mad Dog, see LRMs in my loadout, and then charge me thinking they were going to eat themselves a defenseless LRM boat only to get torn to shreds at brawling distance by my pulse lasers. Sometimes they would realize their error and go critical and then try to disengage, resulting in me finishing them with a couple of LRM volleys as they tried to get away from me. It was great times. So great, in fact, that I mimiced the build on a lot of my other clan heavies, such as my Hellbringer and Timberwolf. Due to new tech though and the nerfing of clan MPLs most of these 'mechs have switched to ATMs because they simply fit the role of sidekick missile far better than LRMs and ERMLs since I saw no reason to pay two tons for something that does the same damage as another laser that costs 1 ton and has longer range.

You know, there is also the MCII-B that can do 2x LRM 10 in the CT... No ears, still LRMs.

Us LRM users define a "LRM Boat" as a mech who's primary weapons are LRM launchers..

Sounds like you mech's primary weapons are Gauss riffles, which makes it not a LRM boat.

Also, LRM boats are not stupid. :D

Anything more than a 50/50 LRM direct fire hybrid is stupid and I'm someone who will defend the honor of lrm's more than most.

Technically it is not. Main difference is he swapped the ER lasers for Heavies. Loadout is similar but not stock.

To be able to add fire support when closing the gap or getting into position?
