It might be a good time to buy a Mechpack after it dropped because we know how good or bad it is, performance-wise or other things.

Hitting the enemies with machine guns requires face time, does it create some problems for you?

I only played one match in my Cipher because I quickly realized today was not a good day for piranhas! It's not just the over abundance of streak boats, it is the over abundance of lights (mostly PIRs), this mechs is designed to prey on bigger fish not its pairs. That only match there was 12 PIRs counting both teams, of which about 8 didn't go beyond 100 damage which tells how unforgiving that mech is, that said if you manage to avoid the streak boats and dodge the PPFL it has good potential and can rack up impressive amounts of damage in impressively short amounts of time in the right hands.

I think this is going to be another case of a fun and reasonably useful mech, not quite meta though, the hero will be the best, the mix of 6 MGs + plenty of micro laser for armor striping is going to make it the best all around PIR.

I know we should be watching our 6 and flanks but the PIR should do the same. Had a PIR try to rear a MKII and the PIR was not aware i was not far from the MKII, only took a couple shots in the back to end his joy run.

I did a few matches and had good and bad ones as well. It feels quite squishy, but what really bugs me is the cockpit. Visibility is very poor. It's no wonder that this guy has not seen you. Posted Image

Had one shut down in front of me last match. One alpha.

They seem strong in packs with other fast lights or can-opener mechs, but too squishy for solo runs into enemy territory unless your dance moves are solid. That being said, I'm all for mechs that can punish players for staying too far behind their formation, so I like the addition.

It can be killed quickly and easily, so I am confused as to why I see so much QQ about them in game chat.

I've had mixed luck with it. Ironically, I've killed far more lights with it than assaults or heavies.

Its decent, it took a bit for me to figure out out, but I think I got it now.
I started off being wayyyy overly aggressive. Once I got over all that, and squashed the reflex to keep hitting the space bar to JJ when it has no JJs, it starting killing things.

I find it excels when your pair it up with a couple HSLs(MLX-E).

It is agonizingly unforgiving however so i have to figure out that bit. I'm thinking it might have to take the full armor tree for this thing, despite it only giving like 4 armor, but it really needs all it can get.

Don't get hit by a strike, they are devastating.

It'll be a while for a final verdict though because there is a plethora of people running around in stock mechs creating issues with matches themselves. And you can do so much in a stock 20tonner, that pops if you look at it.

Its a 20tonner, so take your dual strikes and you'll make 500dmg without much effort.

I dunno that I'd recommend buying it unless you're a light mech jock and are just dying to have it. Might as well cbill buy a MLX-E and have JJs.

As a FP regular, this Clan 20 tonner was a money well spent. Thinking of upgrading my pack so I can get the (S) variant.

Piranha, unlike the Thanatos, is a good mech. Lots of fun. You will usually die, but get a few kills in the process. Especially good in a school of Piranhas seeking mechs left on their own. The ones in the basic pack all seem good.

I'm glad that people have fun in it!

It's a bit unfortunate that it's once again the Clan which got good toys but it can't be helped.

It's a decent mech.

Fragile as you expect a 20 tonner to be and requires a little patience as it is strongest if you wait for the enemy team to be engaged by your bigger team mates so you can swoop in and get some backs or swarm a damaged target.

The trickiest part is overcoming the urge to try and get a bit more damage, when you really should run away before their team mate blasts you. Don't be afraid to break off and come back in a little while.

Being a part of the swarm is some of the most fun you can have. 4 Piranha's swarming around an assault mech and just picking it to pieces as it spins around in desperation is hilariously fun. I think I will enjoy it as much as the Locust, once all the splat boats and light hunters buzz off.

I got killed by a legged piranha. They are VERY difficult to spot when shut down. Sneaky boi had 10 ER SML's that went trough my backarmor WHMR 6R pretty quick

Didnt get to play with it a lot, but let me tell you of my limited experiences:
taking full armor and maximum HMGs is ******* hilarious, although absolutely bad. I tested the 12 HMG piranha in the testing grounds. one ton of ammo is gone in about 8 seconds or so and it opens up an atlas in about that time. Not enough damage to kill him though. Was very funny and could potentially be used to troll the everliving hell out of people.
The only piranha I actually took into a game was the quad AMS one.
9000 shots of ammo and only 2 micros. Its hilariously bad, but what did I expect? Did I think 100 damage, which is a lot given that my alpha does less than 5 damage. well, my "Alpha".
Experimented with 15 micro lasers.
Alphaing WILL kill you for sure, which is a shame because your mighty alpha amounts to less than 40 damage.
As for the 12 LMG build: Its nuts.
You slowly, SLOWLY strip off the armor of an arm and then its just gone in the blink of an eye. Its that rapid. I should probably try it with normal MGs (although the ammo is REALLY limited already, so that might be a bad idea) since they eat structure even harder.

It's ok.
Remember that the 12% heat dissipation quirk gives you a quite cool laser ams.
Run in packs, use ams and say f... you streaks works better than expected.
If you do double your armor rating as damage (~250dmg) no one should call you useless.
And 250 is not really that hard.

The location of warhorns really obstructs the already poor visibility in the cockpit. :\
