Hey guys,

got bored today and decided to see how the buff to the Heavy Gauss Rifle's optimum range affected the damage output. Or rather, the damage fall-off. Put the damage values at different ranges for the pre-buff HGR, the current version and a hypothetical "what if" version that retained 5x optimal range as its maximum range.

This also assumes the 15% rang buff from the Skill Tree but not further chassis-specific quirks.

Can only provide the table in picture form because formatting is probably gonna be FUBAR if I wanted to embed the table in the post.

The buff is relatively minor and the benefits diminish with increasing range (as expected), but mire interestingly, it show why PGI stuck with the kinda wonky 220 - 900 meter max range conversion instead of the cleaner 220 - 1,100 approach. Didn't expect the difference to be that big.

Maybe some of you find this mildly interesting or useful.

Cheers!

Understandable, as PGI doesn't want the HGR to replace big caliber ACs. My dual HGR FP mechs are having tons of fun though. 220 meters (253 with nodes) is just fine when defending on certain Invasion maps.
