We all have real lives to contend with, and sometimes that gets in the way of playing. At times there are people by the door, or someone calling, or an emergency.
Please make a Pause button, so that we can either attend to these trivialities, also wait for the DC

Yeah, I absolutely would love to play an online game where 24 people can pause the game any time at their leisure.

Ya know what? I don't know if this was meant as an idiotic troll or as an actual serious posting, but I'm going to treat it as being dead serious.

That said, this could be a potential reality, and would make a great courtesy like back with Unreal Tournament back in the 1999 era of gaming. However, to make it work here, there would have to be a Vote implemented in the middle of the battle. In order for it to pass, a requirement of 67% (as in two-thirds, however many that may be at the time) of the players still in combat would have to give an affirming Yes Vote for the Temporary Pause to trigger. That cycle of being Temporarily Paused would then either have to make an imposed Time Limit of about 10 (Ten) Minutes at the maximum, or require 67% (as in two-thirds, however many that may be at the time) of the players still actively in combat to Ready back up, in order to allow proper time for restroom trips and/or drinking breaks before resuming that Match and the combat within. I suppose in terms of setting up a Re-Ready for those whose Mechs are still alive, we could probably re-use the Pre-Drop Preparation Screen but with the Ready control only enabled for those whose Mechs have not been killed in battle already. Those whose own Mechs are already Dead would just simply show such on that screen, and the Ready button would not be made available to them. After combat resumes, triggering another Vote for any kind of Temporary Pause would have to be put on a 5 Minute Cooldown in order to prevent Vote Abuse from happening upon players.

So what do you people think? Is this a reasonable implementation of a Temporary Pause function being made available? Like seriously, if somebody (even me) can't manage to get 5 minutes of combat time in between one Pause and the next, then maybe they shouldn't be actively launching to the battlefields?

No, just no. Multiplayer games don't have pause buttons unless they're turn based. If you want a pause button game, find a single player game and add it to your repertoire, then play it at the times when you might reasonably have to hit pause on short notice.

Your attempt was admirable. If the core concept itself were not ludicrous, this would be a good solution.
