Unless you want to take a HGR or LB20, you dont need these engines.
Its a shame really.
Something that many people have brought up is that a standard engine should make you more tanky, since its such a heavy item.
My suggestion would probably be the same, although not as much for IS.
IS is already pretty tanky. If they receive buffs to armor/structure by equipping a standard engine they will be such bullet sponges, so its not sitting right with me.
Besides, IS has two reasons (which I mentioned above) to take a standard engine.
However, clan doesnt.
So, I would suggest minimal armor+ structure buffs for IS (2-5% at max) and upwards of 10% for clans.
If you are gonna take a clan standard, make it worth your while.

Thank you.
Haven't thought of this problem yet.
Still, is this really a problem.
I mean a real one.
If it is one, then explain the 5-8% difference between IS and clans.

I use a lot of standard engines on my mechs, mostly because XL get you killed and i can't afford lights..
I like the idea though.

You also need STD to mount 4x ASRM6 on the Atlas or 5x AC/5 on the Mauler. There are of course some other examples.
Basically it's still useful on the IS side because IS needs it for certain loadouts.
BTW, the Clan needs it too for the Quad Gauss-Bear.

We dont need more hp on anything.
The already crazy amounts of hp to chew is exactly what promotes stomps and crazy alpha builds. At the same time it makes mechs who cant boat a lot of big guns less competitive.
If you want LB20X and HGR with LFE you'd better ask for crit split.

They're worth giving a structure buff and maybe also a heat dissipation buff to compensate for less tonnage and internal crit space for heatsinks. LFE could received a scaled back version of those buffs to make it competitive with XL on the IS side.

you really find giving up 7-8 tons of payload or a great deal of mobility worth the capacity to use 2 energy hardpoints for a little while longer?

so, since IS already has a hard enough time building mechs in a way that is competetive with clans (bigger **** nessessitates that stds are still needed) then we should upgrade clan ON TOP OF their ability to take any weapon system with no other build limitations? lol, ok.
