Proposition:

An alteration to how LRM and ATM function, to enhance teamwork and encourage moving with your team as a lockon missile boat.

How:

Step 1: Lrms and ATMS no longer can achieve solo lock without line of sight. Lock decay remains as is.

Step 2: LRMS and ATMS that are fired without lock or lose their lock will follow the nearest friendly TAG even if it is not on an enemy mech. Much like a cat after a laser pointer.

Step 3: Tagging a mech and holding the tag for at least 5 seconds total with minor interruption allowance will "TAG LOCK" the mech for 5 seconds, and the timer for a "Tag lock" can be refilled/maintained by continuing to attempting to tag it every so often, but will decay if left or not re-tagged hard enough. TAG lock is not effected by ECM.

Step 4: Narc continues to function as is.

Step 5: Landed NARC and TAG LOCK allow all friendly mechs to indirectly lock and fire, as is the functionality now.

I think your idea in step 2 will just cause way too much trolling since you can basically let the lrms fly around in circles over the map
