I actually loved the catch of the day events:
I loved the weapons events it made people at least change up from the same old same old
I would suggest that we have more of them if only to give less favourable mechs in our mech bays a reason to play them
For example you could have a centurion event, I can't remember the last time I saw a centurion
or any mech that has fallen out of favour
I also reckon that you could combine them with the Kill a X mech event
I also think you need more of the get so much damage, so much lance in formation and so on events. You could even rotate them or have a Kodiak/Altas week and the like
It just seems that at the moment the game to me is a bit stale with few new feature to keep things going at least you get to see more mechs and people trying more playing style and less meta
You don't need a release of a mech pack to do it. Oh and adding the features you are going to showcase in an event in the actual trial mechs would be nice although I understand you have to make money
Just an idea

Don't get me wrong, I like events. It's an awersome way to bump up one's finances and get stuff I otherwise would have to pay for (and sometimes stuff that, for the love of god, really have absolutely no use for and can't get rid of). It's just that there seem to be so many of them lately. At times it feels that there is more time an event is going on than there isn't an event. I reckon this is how it feels to me and the actual hard numbers might be different. But an event is not just bells and whistles all the time. The behaviour of players alter drastically during events and not for the better I might add.
In the case of events I would go with "less is more". I would like better events, more sophisticated events. Not your garden variety firesale events that feel like it popped in PGI's head just a day before.
