So I'm in my shiny new Cipherfish. I'm having a good match (good being a relative term here describing the quality of match possible in a paper mache mech that neither has a lot of machine guns or a lot of lasers, and like most things that try to walk the middle of the road, gets run over a lot).

I see a group of four red mechs. Yay! I'm so gonna drop an arty strike right in the middle of them and there will be joy and happiness. So I do. And then I hide behind a building and start counting.

And while I'm counting, I watch two of my heavy teammates rush past me to go face hug those enemies I just dropped the strike on.

So, to make this really clear:
1. There is growing red smoke meaning the strike is incoming.
2. They are running to fight point blank in NotLight mechs.
3. They are outnumbered 2v4.
4. They didn't even scream BANZAI! as they charged in which added a whole 'nother layer of lameness and disappointment.

So my good Ciperhfish match turned into a high paying high XP, but zero match score and a two minute penalty.

And perhaps worst of all, I didn't even get a team kill on either of them which would have at least given me the satisfaction of knowing that they died for their stupidity.

p.s. Before anyone posts that I should have better awareness of the mechs around me, I would like to remind you that I was playing in a fish which means I can't see anything that isn't directly in front of a very narrow lil' cone that is my vision of the battlefield.

Wait... you mean people being too aggressive is the problem in MWO?

Sorry, 95% of my frustration with my team (if I am frustrated, that is) comes from people being too timid, too passive, and I would love to see banzai-charge more often than not.

Heh. You're not wrong.

But in this one case, ya, they rushed into a suicide attack and in the process, punished my absolutely mind-blowingly brilliant (your description might differ) arty strike.

Sad.

I question River City every time i drop on the bad, not good for citadel, spawn. You get either half the team or everyone in the water and they just circle that tiny space of "cover" motioning left, right, left, etc. Eventually, the other team just gets sick of the back and forth and just strolls up on both sides to stomp.

This is why i like to have jump jets so i can just jump up on the citadel and go to town while the mouth breathers read the map plastered on their cockpit glass which at that point is probably covered in spit as well and decide on a direction to go.

If I see red smoke by the enemy I wait till the strike hits then push into a even more damage enemy, which might also be panicking now as their internals are exposed and/or flashing red.

The timer is so long, sometimes I can't really tell for sure if a strike has dropped or is incoming. Anyway, I just steer away from any red smoke just to be sure.

Next time call out your strike. Every bit helps.

If you see me in-game in a Pretty Baby, you know it will most likely happen. Posted Image

Oh, and a strike is usually the sign.

Piranhas don't have a mini map radar! wow they really skimped on those mechs didn't they?

Joking aside when I drop an artillery strike and there is even a slight chance my team mates have the capacity to blunder into it I call out that I dropped smoke and where.

But I admit in your specific case I doubt it would have help against those two "experts" .
