The question is, how to get it.
Like all new players I toyed around with an LRM boat just for fun. They're different, I'll grant them that, but the rate of fire is fairly slow. Or so I thought.

The other day I spectated another player who was running around with dual LRM15's spamming fire. His cooldown was about 1 second between shots, so we're talking a 400% decrease in cooldown for the LRM15. I looked in the skill tree and it would appear you can decrease cooldown by about 20% or so. Handy, but not godlike.

So my question is this: does anybody know how the bloody hell to get their missile cooldown that fast?

Thanks in advance!

You have to pick mechs with specific quirks, and also stack it with the skill tree cooldown buffs.

The Trebuchet 7M has 5% LRM15 cooldown and 20% generic missile cooldown. Add in skill tree for another 12%, making it 37% total reduction. AFAIK this is the largest possible IS LRM cooldown reduction right now.

Was it a Trebuchet by any chance?

On a serious note - that was probably chainfire with multiple launchers. I do have LRM15 Trebuchet, it does not shoot that fast.
What can you do to improve your rate of fire:
- Choose mechs with big missile cooldown quirk. If it have cooldown for a specific LRM launcher, equip those.
- If you have many missile hardpoints, go for smaller launchers, like LRM5. They shoot faster and tighter. But of a little use if in small numbers. Be aware of increased heat though.

P.S. Always bring backup weapons, and TAG.

Just to clarify, I spec'd the guy. I forgot which mech it was, but I clearly saw the little cooldown bar go from full to clear in about 1 seconds (could have been as long as 1.2 seconds, but definitely extremely quick).

From what you're saying, this guy was probably cheating somehow. Good to know.

a trebuchet with max cooldown skills can fire an LRM15 every 1.25 seconds

4 second base cooldown - 37% from skills/quirks = 2.5 seconds

2.5 second cooldown with 2 stagger fired launchers = fires one LRM15 every 1.25 seconds

it has nothing on the Awesome 8R though

Spectator mode does show slightly different things, but yeah, there is no way LRMs can fire that fast. Report the guy.
