Clan Active Probes

im trying to understand Active Probes better.
mechlab description states they allow detection of shut down mechs at 150m (cAP) and 90m (cLAP) respectively
however is this the same range for countering ECM?
where can i find information on the range that active probes counter ECM?
cheers

dont they also extend the range you can detect ECM mechs?

clan LRMs still do good damage at 179m though
I always take a BAP on clan LRM mechs

On a more serious note, does BAP do anything to stealthed mechs?

I take it on some if I have the tonnage. But it only breaks EMC at less than 150m which is about the point where LRMs damage really begins to drop to a point where the heat would be better used on frying your oppressors with lazors.

so just to confirm,
BOTH Clan Active Probe and Clan Light Active Probe will counter ECM up to 150m?
and this counter range is extended by Sensor Range nodes?
(where is this stated in the game or patches by the way?)

i went to run tests in private lobby.
turns out BOTH the Clan Active Probe and the Clan Light Active Probe counters ECM at 240m
(i only had one sensor range skill node unlocked which is +7%. not sure how much that contributed.)

It's the Sensor Range that determines at what distance you are able to lock ECM mechs. And BAP boosts sensor range, thus increasing the lockable range. TC does that at a smaller degree as well.
I think you can get like 1,4k lock range at max and skill ECM reduces that distance by 75%, means with max sensor range you can lock skilled ECM at 350m or unskilled ECM at like 1k.

BAP used to counter ECM under 150m. Now it counters ECM under 240m, which is weird because it has a longer counter range than ECM in counter mode, which makes no sense. PGI...
BAP also doesnt increase the range your sensors can detect ECM mechs at. It just counters the disrupt mode at 239m and makes the mech detectable as normal.
Works the same for both IS and Clan versions.

Remember when it was nerfed from 360M?
It's stayed at 240 from then on.
It technically DOES increase the range you can detect ECM mechs at, but that's due to the sensor range increases, which isn't exclusive to APs
The ECM's Magic Jesus Field is based on sensor range, so 50% of 800M=400M, but 50% of 1200M=600M
50% is invalid, but can't remember what PGI chose; 70.somethinganother? Then 2 nodes for the old 25%

Does an increase in sensor range have any effect on thermal sensors?
