Even if that is his angle, the mech he's looking for is already in the game (If in 'Dire' need of buffs). And even then, there are much better choices than a tonnage-swallowing low-speed 100-tonner.
Well, his point is that nothing can hold a position like the Annihilator can. On game modes where you are compelled to run at it, that's brutal. Clans have no option that can quite do the same thing. The Mark II will out-trade and out-push just about anything, but if you want to play gate-keeper you come up short because nothing other than an Atlas K or RS can tank multiple targets like the Annihilator.
And like I said before, the second part to this is that the IS have a lower opportunity cost to run something like an Annihilator. I can still fit in a Commando and two Warhammers or a Wolfhound and two Roughnecks.
The real problem, though, is that the ANH really is the only thing the IS have that can go toe-to-toe with the Mark II and IS Mediums for anything other than brawl are completely out-classed. So the balance is slightly f*cked because it's d*mned if you do and d*mned if you don't.
Still, I don't find the particular Piranha complaint to have any merit whatsoever, because the greater agility on the Locust and Commando don't let them do anything you can't do with a Piranha. Certainly not survive. The Commando relies on large durability quirks and hit-boxes for that, same as the Mist Lynx, only it uses the horizontal plane rather than the vertical. Locust...has nothing. Super squish. One solid laser burn and it's gone.
