High alpha PPFLD. It's a feature of the present meta. Nothing mysterious about it.

That's 50 damage. That'll kill a jager with fresh armor?
Edit: It's possible that lag caused it. I heard nothing and saw no indicators of impacts, then suddenly died. Could be an angry god catching up to me...

Yellow armor has a wide range. You probably weren't as fresh as you thought.
The rest depends on how much armor you actually had, your skills, and where your ammo was, of course.

Yep, dual heavy gauss killed me a couple of times very quickly lately. I try not to sit still when they are around. I also got some very fast (Maybe one shot) kills on Piranhas using a streak crow and hitting them in the back while they ran. Both of these situations are just part of normal game play.

This actually just happened to me.

There were 2 or 3 enemy mechs that could have shot me, and I'm sure they did. But then my torso exploded...granted, I was in a Jagermech, but the destroyed torso was at yellow armor. As you can see in the screenshot, they didn't go through my rear armor.
The death was instant. Someone either did enough PPFLD in a single alpha to blow through a Jager's right torso and structure, or something weird happened.
Notice that my death was due to collision damage.

It says right there,
CAUSE OF DEATH
ENGINE DESTROYED
That collision damage could just be left over from the 0.001 damage you took at spawn rubbing past a friendly mech. It will stay in your damage report until something else bigger comes along and bumps it off the list. But there's probably also no rhyme or reason to what is actually listed in your damage report - I've never trusted it, it's best to ignore it because it rarely provides any useful information. Generally you can better guess what killed you just by listening to the impact sounds when you died.

Yeah I've had my shadow cat destroyed when two mechs with Hvy Gauss both hit me in the CT at near the same time. Just don't have anything that can repel that kind of fire power :-D. But yeah the Hvy Gauss is very real now that the range was pushed out to 220M

That's just a particular risk you run now at days in lights. What with people running pin point weapon damage or super high alphas. Unless the light comes with armor quirks. Gotta be extra careful. ;o
Armor quirks wont save you from two heavy metal slugs shoved into your torso by an annihilator...

I got hit by a dual heavy gauss in my Cipher a couple days ago. Vaporized, and all I could do was tip my hat and tell em GG.
