I'm feeling salty. A little well...a little more than just irritated. And it could just be
That today's matches all ended the same. And yesterday's and the weeks before.
Goes on back for awhile.
I love MWO. I love Battletech. I just do. Since the first day I played MWO I have been
Hooked on no other game but this....(Occasionally Skyrim).
It's small things that get to me too.
The constant running into each other. The "Kill" blocking. Rushing and running in front of
You while your firing. I swear to God I have no problem Firing an MRM 80 into your back.
Skill Tree system. Go blow yourself.
Lrm spam. Suck on an egg
New Motto should be "Nerf or nothing" literally.

Maybe I have been staring at my computer screen too long today. Maybe I need
Fresh air!!! Or maybe I should grab that fresh air while I'm on my way to Down
A stiff drink. Then ill come back and throw Dual Rotary 5s on MY CRAB and
Just keep pulling the trigger no matter who cuts in front and Kill everyone who
Oposes me!!!!!!!!

Especially you little Urbanmech R2D2 TrashCan City Patrol Urban Sqaud wannabees.

And if out of everything I said your asking yourself "How is he gonna put dual
RAC 5's on a crab?" It's The Florentine!

But really PGI. I bet Nerf wouldn't mind you using their phrase.

Ok one more match....right? Just one more...what could that possibly hurt? Lol..............

Just take a break mate.
It happens to me too.

Kill stealing is real.
I know because I'm guilty of it. If you dont solo kill your target as quickly as possbile, theres always some douche in the back of the field with a LL hell bringer who's going to steal it from you.

> The constant running into each other.

Yes but how would you remove this from the game? Proper collision would just make it worse.

> The "Kill" blocking.

I honestly have never seen this happen and thought 'he's doing that on purpose'. Never. I think you are just getting mad cos someone moved into the path of your weapons.

> Rushing and running in front of You while your firing. I swear to God I have no problem Firing an MRM 80 into your back.

This kind of attitude really confuses me. Yes it's annoying when someone blocks your firing line. No it's not a reason to shoot them. When people start shooting others because of an accidental block or whatever, I just think: what is wrong with you? Are you 12? Grow up... But that's just me I guess.

> Skill Tree system. Go blow yourself.

I like the skill tree.

Although apparently, according to another forumer, because I'm not a founder I don't get to have my opinion taken seriously.

> Lrm spam. Suck on an egg

LRMs are the least dangerous weapon system in the game. I won't deny that they can be annoying on maps like Polar but the vast majority of the time LRM fire is a joke.

Also, I think LRM fire is kind of beautiful. There is a video someone made a while back when Polar first came out and everyone took mass LRM for it, and.. well, the sky is full of LRMs and it's ******* glorious. They have a kind of 'epic' feel to them. Shame they're a ******* joke, then.

> New Motto should be "Nerf or nothing" literally.

Unnecessary nerfs are annoying, I'll give you that.

I'm not sure I agree that every nerf PGI has ever done has been unnecessary, though.

There are plenty I do disagree with, though. I will never forgive PGI for ruining the Highlander.

Honestly just take a break. Most of the problem is attitude. We all get like that and I know a break always helps me.

Here is some tips to avoid most of the irritations.

1. Start in external view and always walk straight forward when the game begins instead of turning. You would not believe how much collision damage this will save you.

2. Don't race people though norrow passages, give way and be patient. A couple of seconds isn't going to kill you. That spot your racing for isn't that important anyway. Good players are dynamic and adapt.

3. Hang around the edge of the death ball and go wide around corners. You know half the time it is you cutting other people off and this prevents that. It also lets other people take the damage, walk head first into any hidden gun line and prevents them shooting you in the back.

4. If you don't have the situational awareness to prevent most friendly fire and collisions then pilot JJ equiped Mechs and poptart over the friendlies.

5. If LRMs are an issue it's because you don't have the skills yet. Equip AMS, ECM and Radar Dep as soon as possible. As you learn to use cover and manage you exposure to locks you can dial those things back.

6. The Skill tree is amazing. Don't be lazy and go read some guides. If you take the time you'll have an advantage over other people who would rather rage then overcome.

7. SHOOT LEGS on small Mechs. If things like the Urbie are tanking to much damage then the issue is you. Aim for the upper leg and shoot straight. They are easy meat once you know how.

Getting big match scores is about patients, situational awareness and making positive trades all the way to the end of the match. Being in your spot and jostling for position in the middle of the death ball just makes you a prime strike target and fodder for good players on both sides. I'll take a KMDD over a kill anyday so let the noobies kill steal its the least you can do for them unwittingly being you additional armour anyway.

The games garbage at this point what exactly do you expect.. So much is wrong with it the devs listen to whoever owns the most money and its buggy as crap...

Losing every match at least brings your pointless PSR down.. at least that is a silver lining..

All nerfs are annoying, not just some. At some point, we'd be more effective with welded on lances and hammers on the arms.

Worrying about kill stealing in a game where if you hesitate for more than a second in a push you run the risk of the target returning fire and possibly killing one of your teammates seems like an overreaction... Not to mention it's hard to exactly know if your shots will be enough to finish off the target or not. You also get more credit for dealing the most damage to an enemy than you do for landing the killing blow, anyway, so if you see an opportunity to quickly finish off an enemy, I say there is no reason not to seize it.

Kill stealing/blocking?
There is no such thing.
The one that does the kill does the kill.
If you can't finish it's your problem.
I repeat: YOU ARE THE PROBLEM.
Not some random in your group.

I've been winning more than losing. I usually just say "Murderball and push" at the start of a game. And it works more often than not. 60% win rate in my Cougar, along with 10x damage/tonnage ratio and a positive k/d ratio. I'm having fun.

Yep I got into a pissing contest with a guy one match because I put a bunch of RAC5 rounds in his back. I had a steady stream of fire going and he stepped in front of me to try to steal the kill, but I kept shooting. He got pissed off and started shooting me. It is not my fault you are dumb enough to step into a steady stream of fire, so he got what he deserved. My other pet peeve are those morons who stand behind you and block you so you cant back up.

A big issue is expectations. If you go into a QP/pug match expecting a good battle with some decent combat dodging around and being a bit strategic with your moves, you tend to get disappointed.

If you go into a match expecting to feel like the drill sergeant ordered to take this gang of fresh recruits into battle against elite marines, then you are pleased when you manage to shoot someone's leg off before going down in a hail of fire.

You say you haven't played many other, similar multi-player games, but believe me... play any of them and you get similar match behaviour. Halfway skilled players are in short supply in random matches, so don't expect any at all and you'll be very pleasantly surprised when it turns out only half your team are raging yabos, and the rest are not bad.

I never thought the kill itself mattered that much. The important part is that the tonnage is off the field. Doesn't matter to me who killed it. At least this game rewards and recognizes the fact that if someone steals the kill, you did most of the damage to it. Most games don't even do that.

Hearing your war-horn go off is fun and a good KDR feels good but a good win ratio feels even better.

Just think about it this way. Every time you kill something and don't also get the "kill most damage" or "solo kill" flag, you just KS'd someone's kill. And I'm willing to bet that happens more often than not for all of us.

Take a break and come back with fresh ideas and a better mindset. A row of bad games that seems almost beyond your control can and will make a player salty, dont let it beat you down or take a break for a bit.

I have noticed a lot more shooting people no matter which team simply because you are positioned between the shooter and the enemy. I try to have spacial aware ness so if I am at least moving I am not running into someone elses firing line....but all day long it does seem like many people do it intentionally and without care hoping you will not fire. And I do not...but I hear your frustration.

A few times I even had a person on my own team shoot me in the back simply because they did not care and kept firing as they moved across the back side of me as I am brawling.

I once was positioned out front and decided to get in an assalts face hoping to turn him so my team got a shot. It worked...and they kept shooting and I died as well.

Its frustrating but just need to let it roll off ya and find the fun. I suck as a pilot and never do top damage so I just try to irritate the team as much as possible and THAT is my fun

I hear you. I really do.

I too am a Core Battletech/Mechwarrior Fan. I enjoy the Lore, I enjoy the concepts and more.

I've been playing this game since early beta. I have never seen this game so broken since those early days.

My issues;
- Complete disrespect from PGI on the differences between Inner Sphere and Clan weapons and mechs
- Constant Nerf'ing of Mechs to promote buying new Mechs for Pay to Win. This latest event challenge was a true highlight to that, jumping in Thunderbolts and others to see how huge their Hit boxes are, and quickly they die.
- Constant Nerfing weapons - latest rounds of Nerf'ing to reduce Brawling style weapons and Mechs. SRMs are useless now.
- Complete lack of good Quick Play maps. If you want to stop NASCAR'ing, don't build wide open maps. Have obstacles and stuff like that. I will say that Rubellite Oasis does prevent nascar'ing, somewhat and is a good map. Maps are the body of the game, Mechs are the blood. There is not much of a body in MWO.
- Uneven Quick Play Teams - I would like to see stats on 12-0 games. I bet there are 1000x more 12-0 games, than 12-11. It just does not make for good gaming experiences.
- I spend countless hours crafting and adjusting my play style to a Mech and its Weapons loadout, then PGI changes the rules and the mech is useless. So very frustrating.
...
I could go on and on. I will just rage quitting if I do.

I get a sense that PGI Developers don't ever play the game they are building or even understand the history and Lore of the game. They are probably building the game during the work day, and playing Overwatch after.

I will continue to play. But as you do, I'm feeling a sour taste in the game.

I'm going to rank game play of Mechwarrior games,,, MW4 online play is still the highest level to reach - it had it's flaws but it was consistent. MW LL was close - lack some scaleability, and I would put it second. MWO is third in game play, too much inconsistency, too far removed from historical Battletech, and too focused on Pay to Win.

But I will see you out on the maps, but I won't be investing much money into the game until I see improvements.

As a major BT/MW fan for the last... good gosh over twenty years now....

This is how I treat myself with MWO:

Posted Image

Never start a session with out one... when the glass is empty, I log out till the next time I feel like logging in.

That being said, the best part of MWO has to be the boards, they are often more entertaining then the actual game play.

The flip side of this is people who are moving and you're behind them and then they suddenly stop for no reason. Not because there's a bad guy ahead, or you're in a choke point or something. They just decide to stop.

I really don't think there's many players out there, sinister smirk, just waiting to pull the trigger and steal your kill. Is there someone looking over your shoulder, right now? Are you sure?

Honestly, most new players are just happy to line up their shots and pull the trigger; a kill, any kill, is a huge boon. Veterans are usually keeping an eye open, flipping through targets looking for a weak target. Even a damaged mech can have a lot of weapons and do a lot of damage, so complete removal of an enemy as quick as possible is often a very good idea... doesn't mean I'm cruel, or purposefully jacking your kill to pad my stats, I'm just trying to win the match... as I'm sure you are too.

I walk in front of people ALL THE TIME. Just hold your fire. I'm not trying to block your shot, I'm not trying to steal your hiding spot, I'm literally trying to find the enemy, shoot the enemy, and win the match like everyone else. The vast majority of my mechs are maxed out in the armour skill tree, so I'm usually quite jovial to stand up front anyway, besides, masochism is totally part of my playstyle!

Try to remember, the world is not out to get you. Posted Image
