The very fact that people choose Templar over the Sunder has always triggered me, of course what can you expect from poor taste.

MY FELLOW SUNDER LOVERS WE MUST END THIS ONCE AND FOR ALL, cast your VOTES MY BROTHERS WE MUST STOP THE TEMPLAR FROM BEING PICKED OVER SUNDER

14 MACHINE GUN 90 TONNER FOR I.S is the SUNDER!!!

Laserboat for 85 tons...

PGI would never allow the 12 MG variant in MWO. Not only does it violate MWO's hardcoded weapon cap, but in general PGI has been deliberately avoiding super high hardpoint heroes like the Thanatos and Hellspawn (they got nerfed for MWO).

It also might be a bit Pay2Win in general.

the real question is, will I be able to load the sunder with too many clan LPLs and utterly own everything in my path like in MW4M heat off games, lol

Anyways, for the sake of comparison here are my Spreadsheets:

TL;DR:

Sunder Advantages:
Hardpoint locations
More critslots for building with
More nostalgia

Templar Advantages:
Raw pod space
Maybe better hitboxes for damage spreading (especially when both have locked IS XL)
Hoverjets
ECM

I'd lean more towards the Sunder because of how bulky IS stuff can be, and more high hardpoints.

Ofc PGI wouldn't, they are seriously trying to stop themselves from making money.

I adore how the Templar looks, and that's all that matters to me. Either would probably be a walking coffin without absolutely absurd armor bonuses to make up for the fact that the STs are going to get blown out in an instant, so it's not really a question of which would actually be good. Because relying on quirks just means it'll be easy to nerf it into the ground if it so much as slightly overperforms.

But I bought the Nightstar standard and reinforcement pack, so what do I know?

I bought the Nightstar Ultimate pack, and they are strangely some of my better-performing Assaults.

That said, if the Templar gets stuck with the same garbage twist that the BLR has, it's D-E-D.

Yup, I would point out that the Teplar ST weapon mounts are at cockpit level, while all others are low mounted....

So, theoretically, we can get dual high-mount ballistics on an IS Assault for the first time with the Templar. Unfortunately, sabotaged by XL. Grrrr.

10xE tho...

Sunder seems like it's basically stuck doing ACs + PPCs,

The good news is that since the Templar doesn't have very many ST weapons (especially not energy weapons, which PGI are terrified of), it probably would get the standard 90 degree twist angle instead of something gimped.

Let's go with neither one. Omnimechs are cancer that need to be removed - we wouldn't have half the balance problems we have if omnimechs and the idiotic things they can do by swapping around hardpoints were flat out disallowed.

I can assure you that the vast majority of issues are that Clan Battlemechs are, pretty much to a one, better than Clan Omnimechs due to the ability to change out all of your equipment while retaining all the tonnage and critical slot savings of Clantech.

I would say Templar over Sunderer due to the fact we are in the civil war era, and Steiner got one of their specialty mechs; so Davion should get theirs.

Now I have an idea for a work around for the IS XL issue on IS omnimechs till they get around to figuring out were in the code is st destruction ISXL is located.

They know exactly where, in the code, the isXL side torso death function is located.
