Warhammer WHM-6R. It's not even a question - The Non-hero Quickdraws are garbage, and the Warhammer is one of the best chassis in the game.

WHM-6R, Warhammers in general aged well but the 6R takes the cake in terms of C-Bill variants.

I just recently levelled my WHM-6R, equipped with only 2x LBX20 and lots of ammo, fun to play and great for brawling.

Just ask: which of those mechs do you see most commonly?

You can fairly easily identify how 'good' a mech is by how often it is used, especially with higher Tier players.

Boomhamer-X
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...d770a58d146361c

Probably the most fun Warhammer, and a real champ in QP. Not the meta one, but perfectly serviceable, and a lot more interesting than...

Gausshammer
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...d4aa517dbe11a72

The meta variant. I find it pretty boring, but its a surgeon on the battlefield. Works in QP and FP. NOTE: Haven't had coffee yet, may have made a goof somewhere in smurfy.

Classic Hammer

Still viable even in today's environment and my personal favorite on my 6R(S) "Gold Hammer".

My favorite build. But i use only four meds and a XL300. Whammys roll dmg like nothing else, so the XL isnt really a problem.

2 LBX10, 6 ML, LFE300

My favorite Whammy build.

P.S : Always put some weapon (Especially PPC) on Warhammer arms if you want kill with style.

Mid-close range brawling? Hammer wins. All Hammers win

I’m a huge fan of Quickies, but I must agree that here, tonnage and hardpoints matter more than mobility; and the latter is the only thing the Quickie has going for it. Hammer, particularly boomhammer, lbx-10 hammer, vomit hammer and even my goofy std engine AC20 and 6 ML lopsidedhammer beats ALL of the Quickdraws in the roll you have dictated.

Yes, you can do a 6MPL or 6ERML 5K and be cool and/or fast. But then if you are doing that you may as well run a Medium or even a light. Oh, but the 5K can throw in an SRM4 or rocket launcher in the CT! Yeah, well, even then you are still at about 75%-50% the alpha of even the most mediocre Hammer build. Mix of LL and ML -same thing. Ah! But what about the 4G with those sweet cooldown quirks? Sure you can shove in an MRM10 in the chest and an MRM 30 in the LT and then 4 ML but a Hammer can do something similar but with more MRMs and more ML. Same thing with SRM MPL builds. The 4H gives you 1 more missile point (than the 4G) but far less useful quirks. The fact that the Quickie can out twist the Hammer and spread damage vertically will not make it superior no matter what.

In all cases save those where you can’t manage the 10 more tons, or ya just gotta have JJ, the Hammer is better for the short-med range brawl. Hell as disgusting as it is, if you want a Quickie for this roll you are still probably better off just running a 3LPL LFE300 4G so you can min max the skill tree and take advantage of the energy cool down, but don’t fool yourself into thinking that this is superior to a vomit Hammer with a player of equivelant skill.

I love my Quickies but even I can’t fool myself into thinking they are remotely equal to a Hammer for the role you have put forth.

A 6R with 2 UAC10s and 4 med lasers can be a fun brawly build.

As a clanner I see a LOT of Warhammers running around IS and usually they are not ignored

So I would say Warhammer

Unless your running MRMs, the Hammer is the better choice.

I recently picked up a black widow and am using x2 lbx5 and x3 med pulse lasers. Man, it feels great to button mash in that. Get someone with low armor and you'll take them apart.

I own four 6Rs, so definitely that one. Fav build is 2PPC+2Uac5 - so good at trading.

Even with MRMs a Hammer is better. No room in the 4G Quickdraw (1CT 1LT) to do more than a 50. The extra M hardpoint in the 4H can be taken advantage of a bit more but the mech lacks the tonnage to take advantage of it. If you wanted to fit even 2 30s in the LT you are forced to run a standard engine (better off in an IV-4 but the OP said no heroes). The S Hammer lets you do an MRM 80 (2, 30s and a 20 or a more elegant 2, 30s and energy backup) and still manage an LFE.

There is just no comparison here. Hammer, short of some intentionally bad build, wins across the board.

I run an AC20 and dual snub nose ppc build on my Hammer. Runs very hot but the high mounts and pinpoint damage is alot of fun.
