Hey guys. I know this was stated somewhere but I was never clear on it and PGI decided they didn't want people to be able to search their forums, so I'm just going to make a new thread about it. So bolt on geometry. Is the bolt on stuff going to be purely for Solaris or will we be able to play dress up with our 'mechs in quick play too?

I do believe there will be multiple ways to earn bolt-ons but some will probably be exclusive to Solaris (and possibly other modes too).

My guess would be a lot will be purchasable and the rest will be earned through Solaris. Then they will let you use them anywhere. Probably a lot of work for something that would only work in one game mode.

I need vertical exhaust pipes with weather caps and belching clouds of black smoke... and curb feelers.

I plan on bolting on a big club, and play whack a Mech. (At least I hope I can.)

I'm pretty sure they will be viewable in all game modes, if that's what you're asking. Don't quote me on it though.

i'm sure bolt on geo has been asked for since closed beta or never. One of the two but I forgot which. On the bright side I can make my urbie just like the cockpit item with a hat and cigar. And dam it all if I can't bolt on some red leds on front of my atlas' eyes in pink, green,or red.

it would be best to limit the solaris garbage fire purely to solaris

people attaching a bunch of garbage to their mechs is not my idea of fun

i dont want to see it in quickplay or factionplay. it breaks immersion.

they need to keep it in solaris because I wont be playing solaris anyway

Wow, because you don't want it, they should take it out? Talk about selfish.

no need to take it out

but they should limit it to solaris

if you want to stick nonfunctional melee weapons and viking horns or whatever other garbage on your mech feel free to do it in solaris

but dont ruin the aesthetics of the other gamemodes

Good thing it'll be in Quick Play then. Hopefully I see you in a match, just so I can have the most garishly decorated and annoying mech ever.

EDIT; What's funny is, I don't even want the crazy bolt-on stuff like hatchets or hats. I just want camo netting and military gear. Something I'd actually expect to see on a machine of war.

Depending on how PGI lets us arrange the boltons, people might be able to create their own hats by combining multiple smaller items.

It's been asked for since closed beta.

If it can only be used in Solaris, I will be hugely disappointed, not to mention that it would cut out the majority of the sales

Bolt on geometry in game where split second silhouette recognition is used so you know where to shoot the mech before its ID. Hmmm. Really it needs to be able to be turned completely off via settings. Then those that want it have it and those that dont arnt forced to.

they've said their will several ways to earn the parts, Solaris being the main way to gain them,
bolt on geo will also be visible outside of Solaris, so players can show off their mechs and customization,
also its been said bolt on geo will not increase the hit boxes of the mech, and also will not add any quirks,
they will have their own hit boxes and fall off after some damage, however they will not stop damage from hitting the mech,
-
ex, an AS7 with a special mask on gets shot in the mask,
the AS7 will take damage as normal, as well as the Cosmetic part, after enough damage the part will fall off.
