So, the time has come for me to update my aging hardware. But what should I buy?

Well, the answer is, nothing, because there's no way I'm paying the 2x/3x premium on GPU's and memory right now.

But when prices come down, then what? Yes yes, Intel and NVidia. But what kind? How long can I expect that to last? These are questions that I think a benchmark could answer. Further, it would be nice if those benchmarks would be included on sites like Hardware Unboxed or Gamer's Nexus - it's good publicity for the game, and might help us discover better settings for our particular hardware.

So, though I know my opinion counts for nothing, can we get a real benchmark for the game?

Actually, right now the latest run of AMD Ryzen is pretty good. So, for a significant reduction in price, you can get similar performance with AMD + Nvidia.

Ryzen 5 is a great processor for under $200, (beating most $400+ Intels for performance) and the GTX 1060/1070 is a good price for a modern GPU. (and they beat the AMD offerings in price/performance for the top-end of performance)

As for the benchmark itself, not going to be a good use of developer resources until they upgrade the game engine to UE4.
