LORE:

What came in the repair bay is this TDR-7SE, so much armor has been stripped, and most of it is by it's right side. The right torso has suffered a powerful hit, providing it massive flower-shaped mark. Overall such mech suffered massive damage, even the pilot was hit and wounded.

The FedCom Civil War was nearing it's end with the impending victory of Victor Steiner-Davion at the New Avalon, with this pilot's only regret is being unable to see it through the end.

With a thick German accent, he held upon Yuna Cassell's hand and begged her. There were tears with blood as he held upon her hand.

With this pilot's dying wish, Yuna patched up the Thunderbolt (TDR-7SE) the best she could, and allowed the pilot to return to duty. The engine has been upgraded into a Light-Fusion Engine, there is only two jump-jets remaining, only providing jump distance of 60 meters. With only a few supplies she could get, the 'mech is protected by nine and a half tons of light ferro-fibrous armor.

Yuna had an idea of transferring the ballistic mount at the right-torso on account with the hole that was made by the impact. The primary weapon has been changed to a pair of Rotary Autocannon 2 provides a blistering amount of rate of fire, the use of which allows it to rip across vehicles, infantry, and battlemechs alike. Although with two tons of ammunition, it is usually exhausted pretty quickly.

For long range support it has 10-tube Long-Range Missiles situated at the left torso with a ton of reload. The Medium Lasers upon the torso have been upgraded to Extended Range Medium Lasers. And for close-range, and it has a pair of 4-tube Short-Ranged Missiles, one in each side-torso, and has a ton of reload. Against infantry and other lightly-armored vehicles, it has three Extended Range Small Lasers by the arms.

Christened "Edelweiss" because of the flower-shaped scar of the battlemech by the right-torso, the mark of the true soldier, it stands for duty, loyalty, for brotherhood. Yuna and this soldier never met again after the Civil War, but she knew that he died as he lived.

If we're ever going to have second hero mechs, I'd like a ballistic Thunderbolt. I wanted it to be different in two ways; most missile hardpoints, and the high-mounted ballistic variant.

"Edelweiss" is the theme I chose, the unknown pilot is supposed to be German, and the 2x RAC2 primary weapon by the right-torso is supposed to mirror the MG42 and it's high rate of fire. It should have a large "flower" by the right torso just by the rotary ACs, as it's supposed to be a powerful shell that gave it.

The story is relatively short, I based it from the late stages of the Civil War, at the second battle of the New Avalon.

So, what do you think? Is the lore okay? do you mind a ballistic thunderbolt? What about the quirks, what about the hardpoints?

The lore 7SE has 3 Energy LT, 1 Energy LA, no weapons in the RT and 1 ballistic RA (Gauss Rifle). It also comes with ECM in the CT. From a lore perspective there better be a good reason on just how this battlemech variant drastically changed, even then it creates another variant and is no longer a 7SE at that point so we can skip the space magic.

Also, "Edelweiss" has too many hardpoints. The most currently being 10 (Top Dog) so it kinda defeats the purpose of buying that one if you have another hero with 12 to choose from (and any weapon type you feel like mounting).

From a P2W perspective it'll be the only one that can mount an AC20/LB20/HGauss in which none of the canon variants can do and since we're talking about a tanky chassis it might be a little too strong. Granted the Flame can do the same, but how many of those do you see running around?

On a positive note though: It's a good background story and i can see a nice camo pattern/paint scheme to it.

Custom made by Yuna Cassell. I could reason that the shell created a large enough hole for weapons.

I'ved based it on the 9S actually, and traded the AMS with one more missile. I think it's just 11 + AMS.

The TOP DOG could boat the most energy hardpoints too serving the IS side of laser-vomit or laser brawler best, while Edelweiss is a hodgepodge of hardpoints.

Why would being able to do "thunderbolt" differently would mean it's suddenly strong? So what if it can do builds that other thunderbolts could not? How could that make them overperform? Isn't that it's supposed to be only a sidegrade in the first place? It's not like if we put an HGR, GR, AC20, or UAC20 there means it can also house ERPPCs and LPLs as effectively.

Are ballistic weapons just inherently better than energy weapons? Or there's a takeaway, an distinct advantage of one versus another? If so, wouldn't be just trading those advantages-disadvantages when we trade primary weapons?

Beeing a German myself, I'm disturbed that you are linking a WWII weapon from our dark past to a weapon in a stompy robot game. Too much bloodtears, true soldier stuff and al for my taste, read: too german.

Don't ever play PUBG then, they have a Kar98k.
Or World of Tanks with the german tech tree.
Or the fun Call of Duty games (not the garbage of today, talking 1, 2 and 3).
Don't go to gun shows.

If you're disturbed then that's on you, a weapon is completely different from a person. (OP didn't even state the MG42's nickname for crying out loud, just its high rate of fire comparison with a Rotary Autocannon)

Nice whataboutism. I played most of these games and their setting is in r-e-a-l-i-t-y. OPs comparison was out of context and I simply pointed that out.

And don't ******* tell me what to do, if you feel offended by another persons oppinion you maybe should go to less gun shows and read a book once in a while instead.

But I get it, A Edelweiss mech with MG42 style autocannons, wrestled out of blood, honour and tears - don't let me piss on your Panzer (german!!11!) parade.

And if you feel offended, maybe you shouldn't respond to what you're offended about. Just ignore it and move on. I'll also have you know that WWII is probably the most i've ever studied as far as history goes. There's history not even in the books i can go on about, but this isn't the Off Topic section or K-Town.

It's 2018, not the 1930/40s... there's more recent problems in the world than something that pretty much very few people alive today if any took part in. Honestly tired of going through this song and dance every time so i'm going to drop it.

Due to the already escalating discussion i´m closing this thread. Maybe try again with less conflict laden imagery.
