So what gives? These are totally marked as on sale in the Lunar New Year Sale page but, that's not the case in the client. The Civil War Escalation FAQ even states that these are only getting an MC release as of May 2018...

Anyway, I'd buy it for the indicated sale price with my spare MC, if it was available.

Unfortunately that info is still incorrect even after four + months. The Artic wolf will ship for MC Feb. 6th.

Here is the relevant quote "We will be updating the pre-order FAQ' Today to reflect these changes". That was Sept 2017. The staff member InnersphereNews has not even logged in since November.

Something stinks in PGI land. I mean its only a document regarding terms of sale, who cares right????

IMO that thing is rather poo.
On paper it looks good, in practice, not so much.

Blow your MC on something else or you'll just end up annoyed.

Its agility is sub par, its hitboxes are rather poor due to its boxy design leading to loss of torsos quite easily.
Similarly its arms fall off really easily...so you're forced into a situation where your tendancy/muscle mem might be to shield to protect your torso...but then you lose an arm which is carrying firepower. Effed if you do, effed if you don't.

All that splat looks real enticing on paper right? But the thing is....you gotta get close to be effective...rotating back to the quishy thing mentioned above. You slip up, take one bad poke...pop, you're heavily damaged and or dead.

ECM forces you to drop your arti, and or sacrifice ammo/DHS.

There is a reason you rarely see any of them out and about after its initial release...let alone seeing any of them do half decent in matches.

The only one I like running is the P variant with 6mpls, which there are other things i'd take out for that(nova). And it helps mitigate the squishy issue by letting you keep your distance.

Driving the thing feels like a lot of work...none are mastered...kinda just stay in the garage doing nothing.

I was looking at the hero mech most of all actually because you're right, those super splat builds look too good to be as effective as you'd think they are. I will be picking a few of those up when they drop for c-bills though.

The reason for the hero was interesting was showcased in one of Baradul's streams, with what I believe he called the Boom-Puppy, a LBX20 + 4xERSL build. That seemed more like my kind fun.

yeah.. would not pay MC for those.

the biggest thing they have running for them:
if you got those 40t in your dropdeck left and you don't want a viper..

the battlemechs seem to be good, but I'd wait for cbill-release.
the hero seems to be okay, but nothing great.
the omnis (those I -do- own) - they are okay to fun, you can do some pretty fun stuff with them. but tbh, the battlemechs seem to be better, so I'd wait that month and get them for cbills also if I were you.

safe yourself those mc and get a nice hero or two for them Posted Image

Yes as clan mechs go they are lackluster, not bad at all though and make fast LRM platforms.. I've found 4x cmpl and 2xcsrm6 work too with ECM.

The only other hero I'd want is the Bandit but I don't have enough MC for it despite the sale. I've got plenty of other mechs anyways so at this point, it's just about what looks fun. Also have enough c-bills to buy whatever I want so MC is saved strictly for heros and mech bays.

While I only have the omnimechs, I think the Arctic Wolf is a pretty fun mech. My stats page shows me I have 38 matches in my Prime(S) with 23 wins and 15 losses, 30 kills with 26 deaths, and I'm averaging 349 damage per match.

I think this build is close to what I mainly ran (ignore the front/back armour allocation); while it's a really hot build according to Smurfy's, the lasers are only for defensive weaponry (mechs underrunning your ATM's minimum range) and late match damage after your ATM ammo is used up so it doesn't play as hot as it looks.

That being said, it's only a month until c-bill release so if you weren't interested enough to preorder you can probably wait it out for c-bills.

Gonna have to try your build, I do love running ATMs!

Got the Blood Kit and ran it a few times last night. No surprises so far, it runs like I expected with the LBX20 which is just fine. I do appreciate the speed this thing has with a XL255, makes for enough differences so as to not just be another Hunchback (I do love Hunchbacks though).
