if the game is fun there doesnt need to be an endgame

because playing the game is its own reward

PGI needs to rediscover why MWO was more fun in beta and why its not as much fun now. they need to focus on the core of what made the game much more fun back then. I suspect it has a lot to do with the game not having as much variation as it used to. Everything feels so samey now.

but there shouldnt be an endgame. there should only be a fun game.

faction warfare should just be a different way to have fun than quickplay.

Community Warfare!

I love big stompy battles between two companies. There's just nothing quite like a good match up in CW. Tis just a shame it happens so rarely nowadays.

I would hope that the game gets open mod support to the community after PGI announces cessation of MW:O. Ironically, I would believe if PGI were so courteous to ever release the source code to modders that the game would get the necessary balancing and treatment that it should have gotten many years ago. It would be also interesting to see official and non-canon mechs make it to the game made by dedicated fans.

Agreed with Khobai, if the base game is fun there doesn't need to be an end game. I didn't play 3 years of WoT looking for end game, or 5 years of STO, or 7+ years of CoH... the journey was entertaining without need for a destination. Although upward progression is a factor, of course.

To my mind the only 'natural' end game for MWO is either something like entering competitive play, or an improved FP experience. It is possible that eventually some facets of Solaris might be considered 'end-game'.

Unfortunately the whole FP issue is a massive missed opportunity for MWO, so we're not likely to get anything that naturally progresses a player from casual QP into some sort of 'late game' experience.

As far as I can tell, the forums are the only part of the game that has developed in any meaningful way over the years.

I enjoyed the game more in closed beta, but only because my unit was active back then.

I still find the game plenty fun today, especially when special events push me to do different stuff.

As I've said in the past, when the MWO servers go dark, I think I'll miss the boards the most....

This is the only game I currently play and the only online game I have ever played. As someone who came for the nostalgia and then stayed for the competition and the community, I believe that the end game is that which reflects the combination of those two aspects, in short: team play.

Be it in CW or group queue, learning the mechanics of the game, and then applying that knowledge to the formation of a team and then playing as one as effectively as possible is the end game. Call it comp play if you like, but I think it is more basic than that; comp play is just the pinnacle as it combines that team play with the highest level of skill. What I am getting at is the sublime joy of working together as a group, taking into account your mechs, builds, the map, the mode, your players idocyncracies and just having a blast...hopefully winning to be sure, but having a good match where you worked together is where it’s at for me. Be it in a 12 man bum rushing in Crabs, or a carefully crafted strategy culminating in an effective invasion push; just working together and the engineering of that effort is to me the epitome of what this game offers.

Gotta catch em all. Really only reason besides being kinda bored and loving Battletech back in the day...the stories that is.

It's not a terrible shooter so eh.

...it'd be better with even ******** hideouts we could dress up and buff up. Like some ****** Facebook game. Hey, MWO could aspire to being a ****** facebook game! ...now that's something to look forward to.

It's a PVP arena shooter, not an PVE mmo for gods sake.

PVP arena shooters, or any kind of PVP games with good core gameplay are chugging along for years without any kind of endgame. It's PVP after all.

See that folks? Posts like this are made by people that have no clue how motivation works. Please think about what you post beforehand at best from multiple perspectives if you can.

When PGI has discussed an "endgame" in the past it's always been dumb things like the old module system or maxing out LP on every CW faction to get exclusive access to Wolf's Dragoons OP tech. Be careful what you ask for...

"Collect 'em all" would only happen if PGI stopped releasing mechs so there actually was a tangible number of "all" to collect. Given the micro-transaction financial model, that kind of end game would also be the end of the game.

No, posts like this are made by people who have seen multiple iterations of PVP shooters existing with playerbases countless times larger than MWO for years with nothing but rock solid gameplay and zero "endgame".

They "motivated" more players than MWO could ever dream off.
