I tried it with a mech that was not moving and my NARC did not hit, usually I noticed this if the mech is 450m and above.

It's very vulnerable to AMS, which any ally along an 800M line could have and intercept it

Yup, any ams in the way and the only chance to narc somebody is having lrms flying on that target too, to occupy the ams.
