HG are complete fools! If they had any insight in to how much they have failed to capitalize on the situation they would completely rethink the entire scenario.
What they should have done is said, "You know what, we won't have any issue with this if you promise to build a FTP Robotech MMO with the same model/engine."
How many people would jump on that?

chances are hopefully high;
and assault ?
Marauder is 75 tons of overheating fun so its heavy and I am not interested in the 100 ton scarecrow version...
who cares about a robotech MMO?

I would say unfortuantly not high. Very high risk for little economic gain!

Strictly speaking, the Leopard DropShip in the artwork section is an Unseen; it's artwork is based from the spaceship Minerva from Crusher Joe.
Original Minerva (from Crusher Joe):
Original Leopard artwork:
MWO Leopard artwork:
So, it's not wholly unthinkable that PGI might be working on the other Unseen, and waiting for the right moment to make a grand unveiling.
Then again, neither the Crusher Joe franchise (original artwork source for the Ost* 'Mechs, the Galleon tank, and a number of AeroSpace assets (including the Leopard)) nor the Fang of the Sun Dougram franchise (whose "Combat Armor" mecha were the original artwork sources for such 'Mechs as the Shadow Hawk and the BattleMaster) don't fall under Harmony Gold's purview; it's those 'Mechs whose original artwork came from the Macross/Robotech franchise (including the Marauder, Warhammer, Rifleman, and Archer (among others)) that represent the arguably greater legal issue/threat - and that issue/threat could be more than PGI wants to even think about deal with.
In some cases (such as the Warhammer), even going with the official "Reseen" version could be dicey:
Tomahawk class Destroid (from Macross):
Original Warhammer artwork:
Project Phoenix "Reseen" Warhammer artwork:
"MechWarrior 5" "Warhammer":
As previously stated in the thread, some Unseen 'Mechs and vehicles might need to be so radically redesigned that no one will be happy with such redesigns, and PGI might do as well - or better - to bring other 'Mechs into the spotlight...
