so i come up on a Biostar a760g m2+ motherboard; AMD phenom II x4 805; 4gb kingston hyperx ddr2 ram, antec 430watt psu. from what ive ggathered(and correct me if im wrong) but it seems the Phenom II is not only clocked higher than my a6-3620 but also has more potential to OC?
About 10% increase according to PassMark.

UPDATE*

so i come up on a Biostar a760g m2+ motherboard; AMD phenom II x4 805; 4gb kingston hyperx ddr2 ram, antec 430watt psu. from what ive ggathered(and correct me if im wrong) but it seems the Phenom II is not only clocked higher than my a6-3620 but also has more potential to OC?

AND

apperantly my local Fry's electronics will return any GPU within 30 days of its purchase so long as you have all the original packaging and the reciept.......sooooooo......

is there even a point in slapping a 4gb gtx1050ti on either of my rigs (a6-3620; 8gb ddr3 or biostar a760g m2+ MOBO w/ phenom II x4 805; 4gb ddr2) and if so how much more of a performance boost are we talking? my 3620 with integrated graphics struggles to hold 20fps @ 1024x720 maxs out at 24-ish(VERY unstable) @600x800 resolution with a custom user.cfg. all i want is 30fps solid @ 1600x900 w/ low settings, any thing else is icing on the cake.

also, if anyone has an old gpu laying around hit me up, ill compensate lol

At this point, putting a GTX 1050TI (same card I have, just a MSI version) instantly makes that the most current and powerful part of the build which is going to be held back by the rest of it.

If your going to plan on upgrading and continuing to swap parts out to chase more fps and resolution, then yeah I would suggest it. If your just looking at attaining the settings you've stated, I wouldn't spend the $$ on that, get something cheaper.

For MWO, CPU is important. Going from dual core to quad core makes way more difference than any graphics card will. On the other hand, going from 4th gen to 7th gen didn't do anything noticeable in (MWO) performance for me.

Runs well enough on 4th gen i5 (Haswell), roughly 60-70% load on all cores. Would't even consider i7 for budget gaming, unless you happen to get one for the same gen i5 price.

Be aware that some office desktops come with non standard power suppliers and motherboards, meaning that you might not get a graphics card to work well even though it fits in. Have had a ton of problems with that in my Dell Optiplex. It just boots with black screen most of the time with any newer GeForce (700 series and forward) and last bios update is from 2014.

I'd just go for used 4th gen gaming rig and be done with it. Shouldn't be too expensive. GTX 770 is more than enough for MWO and many other games and at least where I live, they go under $100 (as it's not suitable for cryptomining.) Needs a roughly 500W PSU though. If that is not an option, then GTX1050ti or GTX1060 would be reasonable options. (I have 1060 running on 365W power without issues, total peak consumption metered for the whole rig is just under 200W when gaming.)
