The scenario: Played an incursion match on Polar. Team gets the lucky drop of having the double ridge in i9. As we start, I mention in chat that we can take i9, but will need to watch for the H7 base rush. Get a couple of "affirmative" and some voice agreements.
We have a single scout on our team. (There were other lights, but he was the only scout). He called them crossing in H8 and moving towards our base. I position myself 300 meters from H7 and wait. When five mechs cross into view, I put into chat that they are base rushing through H7 sector and begin to delay them with random fire and have a med mech with me that chases off their scouts.
Seven minutes later and my team does not move out of the i9 trenches despite calls from the scout and myself to get in front of the push. The scout dies, we go blind, and eventually I get rushed and die. Team is still immobile.
As the other team makes contact with a couple of mechs in the back of our huddle masses, my team lurches over the hills in pursuit of the enemy rear. Mechs start to die, leaving the last mechs on our team the "assassin" build lights who did manage to get to that rear armor.
Every time I get in a match like this, it is frustrating that the reason most aren't moving is because they want back shots. I've played games where the damage scores were weighted - a quick example was a really simple game with points scored 5 for front hits, 4 for flank/side hits, and 3 for rear.
If players got more of a reward for doing front damage - would they be willing to fight a bit more face to face? It is much easier for high scores if you are shooting the other guy in the back and aren't getting hurt or losing weapons, that I understand - but it tends to lead to matches where 9 of 12 players on a team are either not equipped or not capable of fighting face to face.

Non-issue. If blowing their asses off works, do it. There is a natural balance by people carving through the front getting higher scores anyways, and the folks that go behind and rip off rear armor should be free to do so without weighted nonsense.

it is kinda unfair you dont get rewarded more for backshots
youre actually punished with lower damag efor killing enemy mechs efficiently
