I kinda want the RFL, too.

I like RFLs.

What do you do on them nowadays besides Lesser Laser Vomit?
3LL Goose?

RFL 3N is either 3x LL+ Goose on an XL 280 or 2x AC/5+6x Meds on a 265 LFE; I used to do 2x UAC/5+6x Meds, but PGI hit the heat on the UAC way too hard

RFL-3C is 2x LGauss + 3x ERML (you can get 4x, but I don't like putting both LGauss in one arm), or 2x AC/10 + 4x ERSL; all on XL 280.

RFL-5D is 2x PPC + 6x Med or 1x HPPC + 1x PPC + 6x ERSL, both on LFE 280; you can do laser vomit, but why waste the PPC quirks when there are plenty of other vomit 'Mechs?

What makes the RFL fun is that it is agile and highly mobile with some potent offensive firepower; it doesn't have a lot of armor and so it can't sustain damage for long, but what it can sustain it rolls pretty well.

Okay I had 3 LL Goose on my LK, trying variations of your builds... I did 2 UAC5s and 6 MLs because F it. 2 Light Goose 4 ERML, XL265 (using both arms), and 2 ER PPCs and 6 ERSL and 19 DHS. I'll probably adjust that one but it could be good for real long range maps with the velocity...

I'll probably buy the pack, but I have zero interest (less than zero.. if thats possible) in Solaris. Waste of resources that could have been better spent.

You do the 3 ERLL + Gauss on the 3N because the 3N has the energy range quirk and the ballistic cool-down quirk; it's going to sync up even better after the patch gives +10% range to the ballistic, too.

Also, when I do the LGauss on the 3C, I don't like to drop engine. It's not that much speed, but...gotta go fast!

I've played that particular 5D. Actually prefer it with standard smalls; only time I ever need the smalls is when something gets in my grille and when something gets in my grille I like the higher DPS and colder nature on the standards. It works on my BJ-3, it works on my RFL-5D. That being said, I think the non-ERPPC builds I suggested give you more effective damage for their heat. With 748 meters reach on the PPCs after taking 10% range in the skill tree (675 if you go for 15%), the ERPPC is basically superfluous in the vast majority of engagements.

I think the point of them isn't to be super different from the basic models, as most of them don't need significant re-rigging to get their loadouts equipped (with the exception of the Banshee). I think that's part of what allows them to turn these around so fast, they're a minimal change with a low investment of time and resources.

The real purpose is to get income to offset the costs of developing Solaris, which in itself doesn't have a price to the players.

IRregardless! The Light goose build needs waaaaaay more ammo.

The LK has cooldown and more durability IIRC, more of a DPS thing. I would imagine that yeah the -3N is the better poke build.

I dunno, it takes a very long match to run out of ammo with the 4.5 tons I put on my LGoose build...

Maybe someday...in an alternate universe....when fun returns....hover jets will be useable on assault mechs again.

By all things, judging by the last podcast, Paul of all things seems to be for boosting their usefulness. I know the pop-tart meta is a bad one even if I werent around in MWO at that time. But PGI could always add more screen shake if its not enough now. At least make JJ be liek in MW4, good lord and lady how I loved sky rocketing around with my Shadow Cat and pepsis.

I ran 4 tons, got Frozen city assault, and used 75% of my rounds before the other team got within 500m. But... it was fun to play, i added another ton and a half for those matches that just take so long to build up.

Well, if you like that, you might like 2LGoose with 2 ERLL on a WHM-BW...

It's either power creep, pay to win, or it's not good enough.

Hmm could be fun. Its funny though, I have to remind myself how fast the rate of fire is since I'm so used to standard Goose.

I also had a MAD 3R build with 2 Lgoose, 2 ERLL and 2 ERML, that was kind of fun too but a little hot.

Just another wasted opportunity brought to you by the people at MWO.

MWO = MOST WASTED OPPORTUNITIES

This I agree with. My original thought was that they could issue one or more tokens to people wanting to buy into supporting Solaris, along with other swag like decals, colors, horns and the like. The tokens could be used to change a mech that you own into a 30% cbill hero mech. I'd be overjoyed with an Orion IIC (A) hero - the Skoll is good but still a mess.

It's like having 4x ERLL without ghost heat and with way better sustained DPS.

Also, MAD-5M with 4x ERML, a LL, and 2x LGoose. Should be a little less hot.

Hmm, slightly worse quirks IIRC but I'll give it a try. You've converted me a bit... those RFL are pretty fun.

PGI is forced to make them garbage or there would be an outcry of pay to win and tons of crying.

It's almost as if having altered combat performance behind a permanent paywall is an inherently flawed design, hmm?

If there were C-Bill variants of all heroes that shared the hardpoints and quirks but lacked the special camo and C-Bill booster, then they could make heroes as stronk as they wished without any risk of P2W concerns. But they won't do that of course, the cat has been out of the bag for so long that it could never find its way back.

But guys.... jumping Banshee. What was promised in the sacred texts is finally going to be in game!

"Hovering Banshee", does anyone even bother mounting JJ on assault mechs when they have slots? JJ do not exist in MWO, this is the universe of the Hover Jet.

I do because I have issues not having JJs on a mech that can mount them. At least one anyway.

But for this banshee I will likely mount a couple and try to hover with PPCs and dakka. Luckily it can mount 2 UAC5s unlike the other BNC hero.
