I never played a Zeus and was tempted to get the 5S because of structure bonus. I also wonder if the UAC Jam chance quirk makes it viable.

Other than that I can pick up any, I mean they all have the same structure values.

Pretty sure the consensuses at the moment is that the Zeus is only good for MRMs+Lasers, and even then it's only 'good' in the sense that it wont burst into flames the moment someone looks at it the wrong way. It's not a great chassis.

Some of them can run rac's pretty acceptably as well depending on your opinion of if that's a thing worth doing.

But as a general rule yeah if you want an assault that moves like a medium and vomits MRM's up peoples tailpipes like a boss then the Zeus is for you. And I very much do love that personally. If you want it for anything else then you bought the wrong mech.

But seriously I do recommend it to any medium specialist who normally finds assaults too unwieldy.

It's not worse than other ZEU, for sure. Zeus is not meta, but it's a cute mech, and is playable, if you put enough love in it. Though, with current damage powercreep, i doubt those amounts of bonus structure will do you any good.

Left-arm ballistic could be a problem though, if you used to mech with right-arm mounted cannons. After Centurion it was a problem for me.

As for loadout, UAC/10 and MRM30, with couple of MLs; would be enough to get used to this mechs, without being a burden to a team. (Though i'm not sure if UAC quirk will work with anything but UAC/5)
3*aSRM6 are also an option, with dedicated shield side or UAC/5. Just make sure your engine is at least 325. Zeus is pretty agile.

I love to field 3 Zeus +1 Commando in CW (Lyran pride Posted Image ), and i'm usually above team's average. Which doesn't mean anything in pug games or ragtag groups from friendlist. But still.

The 6T becomes a trial mech Tuesday. Why don't try before wasting money on the various Zeuses.

They lose side torsos easy though and doesn't that trial have an XL? Seems a bit of a death trap and not terribly representative of how it's gonna run with an LFE and and most likely MRM's.

The Zeus is a decent mech. You probably want to run a 350 LFE in it (those of us a little less conservative prefer the 375XL). I've had a lot of success running it as a generalist, just kit it out to be able to engage at multiple ranges, give it a 350+ rated engine, and it's your fix-it man. Enough speed to get where it's needed, enough firepower and armor to make a difference.

I've come to like my 5S.

if you got a few spare cbills, try it :)

(if you don't have those, better to get the (boring) metastuff, first) ;)

Its a leftys/ west hands mech, like me. Its pretty useful for me and actually quite agile in comparison to its comrade, the Awesome and Victor. Well the Victor might be more mobile. Might be just me.

It could use more armor buffs, other than that... The Zeus is fine, not great, not terrible, its good. I used it heavly at the peak of Faction Warfare. One of the most fun I've ever had in FW/ CW before the nutech and such.

The 5S is the default SRM brawler, due to the massive structure. The jam quirk is only for UAC5s so it doesn't get much use.

The 9S2 has the best missile cooldown and velocity, so it has the best arm for running three MRM20s.

Yeah, the 6T(C) runs an XL380. With all short-ranged weapons. A brawler build that can't take a hit. The sad part is, you could swap down to LFE350 and only lose one sink with no other changes, and it'd be a pretty mean config- still hitting 70kph in an assault, just less vulnerable to instant flaming death. Just one more trial 'Mech that desperately needs a newtech overhaul...

When it comes to structure quirks - if your weapons are exposed then structure does little to help.
The Zeus is a rare case where most of the weapons are in the arms, and those are less prone to getting focused, which keeps your weapons safe (untill your STs are gone that is)
