I understood the division system will be used completely without other factors like tonnage, so that all assults should be in upper 2 divisions.

The solaris pack also contains 7 mechs so Im left to wonder which of the named Atlas or Banchee is better. On normal variants I've had much more success with Banchee than Atlas.

Hi guys, I am new to this concept of Solaris. What is it and what are the game rules?

The answer is Solaris VII is the World of Games in the Battletech Universe.
It is like Las Vegas but with more Mechs and a reeeeeeaaaaallll COSMOpolitan nature.

The capital of Solaris, Solaris City is a roughly circular megacity with five districts while every district primarily houses citicens of one of the Successor States (United Suns, Lyran Commonwealth, Free Worlds League, Draconis Combine, Confederation of Capella)
Also every district features its own Arena.

The Solaris Games are like a boxing league where you fight to go up the ranks to become Champion of Solaris.

From everything I read about this new mode so far, I seriously can't see any logic or sense behind it considering how MWO is built and operates. I've got absolutely no idea how they can realistically balance it to have any sort of variety and not drop into brutal stagnation week (month tops) after release.

To elaborate, it isn't rocket science to see that rock hard meta will form literally few days after release, and there would be 1-3 mechs (I bet 1 with single build) worth picking, rest would be off-meta and useless.

I mean whole charm of MWO is that in f.e. 12v12 matchup, you can bring literally anything (in certain limits of viability/effectiveness) and it can work well, complementing each other, forming some interesting synergies and etc. Of course in more competitive environment, metas rule harder, but it still allows players to maintain completely different builds, i.e. brawlers, snipers, missile boat, any weird mix of those and etc, etc. Plus we have to keep in mind that better coordination is >>> effectiveness of individual mech builds.

I think FP scouting is very good example of what's going to happen with Solaris very soon, and there we have 4v4 mechs with open large maps, but still ultra-strict meta-fest. Any ideas on how it is actually possible to make Solaris into something fun which I'm completely missing?...
