So.
Commander Lemming has inspired me to try a LGR build on my rifleman.
It has 10% ballistics cool down, but I also saw that the 3N has a 15% cool down.

Have any of you done the maths or the builds on this mech using the LGR?
What would you recommend? Is 4 tons of ammo too much or not enough?

4 tons is the bare minimum and you will use all of it. Personally, I go with 4.5-5 tons.

I think the RFL-3C is superior to the LK for LGauss. Same ballistic cool-down, but a generous 20% ballistic range. If you max the tree, that lets you reach out to 1,012 meters, which is good because you really can't afford to have any fall-off from 800 on up.

The RFL-3N will get you more DPS from the 15% ballistic cool-down quirk and easier shot placement with the 20% extra velocity, but you lose out on the range.

The RFL-3N is the best choice, followed by the 3C, and finally the LK.

Yeonne,
I'm gonna try the other Rifleman builds you suggested to Gas in the other thread. Thanks for posting those suggestions!

Do remember to check the 2/20 patch notes, as RFL and Jagers both will have a universal range quirk change.

True, which will tie the RFL-3C and RL-3N IMHO. LK still least favorable pick.

My recommendation is a 3N with 4.5 tons of ammo.

You are gonna shoot the whole match, hits tons of shots and be like "yea i did pretty well!"

Then you will see all that hard work netted you like 250 dmg lol.

LGR needs buff.

LGR needs buff.

That is net damage hitting only armor at optimal range. Successful crit hits generate additional damage as well as ammo (or GR) explosions.

You cant have used the LGR much, its not good at doing dmg so how is it going to get through anythings armor?

I have used the LGR a ton.

600-800 damage is not uncommon. You have to work for it, but with some laser assistance it can still put out.

Meh. For the same tonnage, I'd rather have a pair of AC10s. The last round of buffs helped, but... LGR is still on the weak side for what it demands, and the risks it imposes. RFL arms are easily targeted; far better to have weapons in them which won't explode if exposed to an excess of harsh language.

Its a lot or work, even on my RFL with 2 LGR and 4 Er Meds it just doesnt do dmg like you think it should have.

I mean, no, it doesn't quite do the damage that 5-6x ERLL would have done for the same amount of firing. On the other hand, I would have had to space out that firing more where the LGauss just keeps going, and going, and going, which has some value. I love it on Tourmaline.

I consistently out dmg my RLF build with 6 Er med laser WLF's and JVN's. Its not that great but what do you do with it to not just make it lighter normal goose. Its no horrible but its not good either. But i do like the range and it sure if fun to play even if i do lack luster.

Just because you can use a bad weapon well it doesn't make it any less of a bad weapon.

If they remove the charge up, it would probably still suck but it would be significantly better than it is now.
