Ok so, I'm in match and my heat is just steadily building even when I'm idle. Like as soon as drop happens my heat is going up 1 percent per like 1.5 seconds just by standing there. This causes issues when moving because then I'm building heat every 1 second. Then in combat as soon as I fire a weapon i friggen explode and become useless because my arms and R/L torso go bye bye. What's going on here? Also when I logged back in after only a day of absence all my weapon groups were set to group 1 instead of how I had them laid out.

Assuming you don't have Stealth Armor equipped and active, then that could be a manifestation of the heat bug which has been pretty well-documented at this point.

Frozen city, Tourmaline Desert before I came to the forum.

And again, before I even fired anything my heat was astronomical.

Don't use Stealth Armor or IIRC, disable ECM specifically when you don't need it. Disabling ECM is the "J" button by default....

Sounds like an MWO feature™. Sorry. You may want to consider running the MWO Repair Tool or the Steam equivalent to try to fix the game.

Plain ECM doesn't generate heat and should always be on in distrupt mode.

A bit of a clarification on this, the J key does not disable your ECM, it toggles your ECM between Disrupt and Counter modes. Disrupt is the default mode, it disrupts enemy sensors. Counter is ECCM (Electronic Counter-Counter Measures), it nullifies enemy ECM. (Note that an ECM in Counter mode isn't as good in that role as an Active Probe, as the Probe also boosts sensor range and speeds up target info gathering, but at least the ECM in Counter mode helps friendlies some.)

It doesn't, I apologize.

"M" is the default key to disable Stealth Armor.

The only time you're supposed to use Disrupt mode is when you are fighting another ECM equipped target. This is rarely ever done due to laziness, poor NPE, and sheer ignorance.

I had forgotten that Stealth Armor had its own toggle button. My bad on that.

With that said, rarely anyone uses the Disrupt mode on ECM back when ECM was actually a thing. It's sad people don't know this.

Back when the 2D Commando was all about the Streaks it was something you really needed to know, because you just didn't have the tonnage to pack a BAP.

FYI, Disrupt is the normal mode for ECM that masks your signature. Counter is the mode used to sniff out other ECM 'Mechs.
