<--- Proud owner of all the EarthSiege series games, (tribes included) except for cyberstorm.

Dont care that the Platinum Guard Adjudicator was the best Herc in Deathmatch. Apocalypse ALL THE WAY.
Played that beast through ES, all the way to kill Prometheus on Pluto.

also my surprise when they removed torso twist in StarSiege WHAT THE CRAP. Also nerfing the plasma cannon, serious bull.

Edit: FREE MARS!

Oh i played Earthsige2 over and over again.
Liked the building stuff. I remember building a plane and failed many times the mission, because my english was so crappy when i was young. :)

Proud owner of most of the "siege" games as well. In fact, like many have responded in this thread, Earthsiege 2 was the first mech sim I played (for that matter, it was the first computer game I could proclaim to be my own. A point of importantance considering I was living with 2 older brothers at the time). I still play the Earthsiege games every now and then. Hell, I sometimes play Earthsiege on campus via a flash drive when I need a break or time to pounder things.

Oh yeah, the first time I played through Starsiege, I drove my Apocalypse with pride all the way to Pluto. Latter on, though, I fell in love with the Minotaur class HERC. Such a fun, undervalued, HERC. Most never expected to see it in multiplayer. Though I am/was only an average player, I have taken down other, more powerful HERCs and tanks with it. I can recall one time dueling a skilled Apocalypse pilot to a stand still after 10 minutes (we had nothing but EMP cannons left).

The majority of the whole series is amazing. ES1, ES1: EX, ES2, and Cyberstorm I played them all to completion. Starsiege was not good however. I liked it at the time but it was rather poor and changed too much.

ES1 was almost my first non Commandore64 computer game (Wing Commander 2 was the first). I really loved Earthsiege 1 and 2. Such fantastic games. I've made several requested to GOG.com for those to be added.

Earthsiege II, one of my all time favorites.

I LOVE how there were actual consequences to failing a mission other than Mission Failed, Please Try Again.

Oh you didn't successfully defend the prototype? I guess you don't get to use that awesome new weapon for the rest of the game.

Still waiting on a total conversion for Cyberstorm. Someone get a Kickstarter going.

Ahhh, yes. I remember Earthsiege. That was my second mech combat game (my first being G-Nome). Good memories...

OMG I was gonna ask if anyone played G-Nome!!! YESSSS! That was such a tough, but rewarding game, especially given I was 10 or 11 when we got it. I think that game came w/ our computer along with Sim City 2000 (back when the games packaged w/ the OS didn't suck balls or install spyware).

I think we got our ES2 as a demo/shareware in one of those huge packs they used to do. I honestly don't remember a ton about it other than snatches of gameplay, but it got me really interested in the genre and MW2 when I found out about that.

I think it's funny how many people were in Jr high or elementary school then and are still into this stuff. I bet people at the time wouldn't think some of these "silly games" would last so long or come so far

Earthsiege 2 introduced me to the whole genre, and I've been loving it ever since. And you just can't beat that Apocalypse. It's quite similar in many ways to the Timberwolf, but I'd wager that if they were to duel one on one, the Apoc would win.

Though that game also proved to me how much more useful a flier is than a walker. I got so good at piloting the Razor I'd even use it for those listening post tapping missions...

EarthSiege 2 was one of my first games, alongside MechWarrior 2 and BattleZone 1998.

It's a shame the series is deader than dead, because ES2 was an awesome game. IMO Starsiege made it too fast paced and got rid of one of ES2's trademark features - the virtual cockpit.

Petition for PGI to bring the ES2 Plasma Cannon into MWO.
Seriously, most grossly and awesomely overpowered weapon. One shot and the enemy falls apart like they were made of Legos.

3x Plasma Cannon Ogre was unstoppable.

(you can run it in DosBox on Windows 8).

I have been trying on Windows 7 - but like the older MW games I cannot get it to run.

(Earthsiege 2 that is)

That would be interesting - but there is no guarantee it will still work
(been through all the MW2 guarantees as well - even have the decent copies of the disks!)

Lets give it a try before we get (to) negative though :)

Should note that the Tribes series is a continuity set in the same universe as Earthsiege.

Tribes series wasn't as good though (not by any stretch IMO).

Lack of stompy robots...

Great games, but they were MP ordeals 'ala Battlefield. Adding the story besides the basics makes such games worse (viz. T:V, although I not having a story wouldn't fix any of the issues the game's had).

Oh wow, Earthsiege II! That's bringing back a lot of nostalgia. I was too young to appreciate the game, but I remember feeling scared when I came across the Diablos haha!

I second the 'pure awesome' comment!
