Max ranges. Same damn graphs. Why not write a number? Lostech?
Rant over, thanks for your attention.

Yeah.
For the newbs, some visual synergy between Reticle, Range, and weapon range on the MinMap.
Each box on the MinMap is 500m x 500m, so maybe display a cone of fire or something for the main weapon?

I mean, come on.. try playing as a brand new player that has never before played any MW game.. Then try playing Incursion or Conquest for the first time..
You will have no bloody idea what to do, any no way to learn other than trial and error..
And not to mention weapon/equipment descriptions are scarce.. for instance, nowhere in the description does it say that you have to have LOS for Artemis bonus to apply.. yet.. it is so in-game..
There is no info, immersion or any kind of fluff in this game..
That is why there are few completely new battletech or MWO fans, and this game is played predominantly by people that also played MW2, more than 20 years ago..

No info in game to force players to interact with each other more and encourage more fansites and stuff. No in game fluff to make players roleplay and write fan fiction. It's for your own good!
Scarcity being the mother of invention and so forth...

And yes, more clear info about weapons and stats would be great. I mean, is there even any sort of info what the difference between IS and Clan is? or what the difference between a battlemech and an omnimech is or how to even tell them apart?

If only it worked that way. Instead, what happens is that new players get routed into the new player forum, where they can barely articulate a question because the games feed back is so poor it's hard to actually describe what's happening unless you already know the answer. Then someone who plays the game mostly one handed throws out an explanation without actually checking to see if it's true, a bunch of people correct him, and the thread gets derailed by a current stats vs. 5 year old 'skill video' duel.

The vast majority of the game content from fluff to specific weapon’s and system’s performance criteria is unknown from an in-game content point of view. I think as long as there is Smurfy’s and Sarna that status quo will never change (and even if those sites disappeared tomorrow I don’t think it would change either at this point).
I pity the mythical new player who comes into this game with no historical or basic understanding of how things work. Even after they learn of the out of game resources that exist, all that info is just overwhelming for a lot of folks. Meh. PGI doesn’t seem concerned and they have ignored all offers from the community to create the descriptions for them.
Hey...weren’t the NGNG guys redoing or creating a new Wiki for the game (still outside of the game, but still); I thought I remember one of them mentioning something about that a while back?

Lostech: You know it when you see it.

How's that feel on the ol' expectations?
This would be the total truth , if not for the general hope that MW5 will be mod-able, and considering what people did with old non server dependent BT/MW titles .. some expectations might not be unrealistic .

If we had a reticle that was designed in Mils, we could choke distances !! Cause .5 mil is .5 meters at 500 meters.
Never mind, had a flashback...............

Seriously just make that little graph thing a bit bigger with properly detailed distances on the graphs axis, and while they are at it it would be amazing if the graph changed as you improve your mech with skills or modules.

Agreed. I feel there must be a lot of players like me that only really knew (perhaps at best) about the old Mechwarrior games from the past and just thought "hey this looks cool".
I really know very little about the lore or anything but it seems like it is both well establish and fairly interesting. (There is a shed load of weapons, mechs, vehicles even ******* spaceships if Sarna is anything to go by! My god this **** is right up my alley!)
