this gives slightly higher DPS, firepower, and armor balancing
Why not a LFE and a trio of UAC-2s?

I have run something like this with AC2s before:

What doesn't work for me is the AC2s feel weak when approaching an enemy lol. I feel like I'm just not generating enough firepower at a time to be effective - alpha vs sustained firepower i guess. I dislike uacs because it seems like they always friggin jam.
That looks like a pretty good setup.

UAC/20 and 4xMPL+LFE300 or 4xML+LFE325. These things can take a lot of punishment.

I was going for a combination of PPC's and AC's. UAC-10 is workable medium range with a very nice and high mount
I created it with solo QP in mind, that's why it has AMS and 10 armor in each rear torso.
The AMS is definitely swappable for any number of items: DHS, more armor, UAC-10 ammo, 305 Light Engine.
I do have a skill tree setup in mind, max survival tree is definitely warranted.

Looks good but it has been awhile since I have been in the cockpit of an IS Mech.

TBH, it's kind of bad in terms of heat-to-firepower ratio. UAC/20 may have shorter range, but will give you a much better punch and swapping the snubs for MLs or MPLs will improve your heat management considerably. Think along these lines: https://mwo.smurfy-n...3928f082a3f9562

In the end, it depends on the engagement range you prefer. I run the 3xAC5 build and it runs a bit hot under sustained AC fire but the range of the AC5 means you can engage at longer range. The UAC20 build is probably better for close range brawling. My preferred build for the -3R is 2xLB10-X and lasers to taste, I know the shotguns are not considered great weapons, but they seem to work for me.
Good hunting,
