It's hard to believe Brian died 7 years ago this month. As founder of MechWarrior Leagues he did so much to keep MechWarrior alive when there was no official support. No one loved MechWarrior more than him. It's a shame he did not live to see MWO.

I wrote this poem in 2008 with him in mind...and I still remember.

Fare Thee Well MechWarrior

MechWarrior, cling thee not to this world,
As it holds for you no more.
But listen! Listen for the song from afar,
And heed the lilting call of the land that awaits.

Let the final breath slip from your pierced chest,
And your broken hands fall from the stick.
Bend your bloodied brow to this life,
And let tumble the shattered helm that once cradled your head.

Leave behind these acrid smokes of the fields,
These swirling battlegrounds of charred metal, bone and flesh.
Depart from the flashing fires that filled your eyes with destruction,
And abandon the burning hulk of steel and crimson that was your mount.

Hold not to this realm,
But hasten! Hasten down the twisting path to the mountains.
To the dark mountains and beyond,
And across the shimmering sea.

Voyage then. Voyage thee well MechWarrior.
Voyage thee well and long.
Cross the great divide,
And find the land that beckons with its Siren’s song.

Where swords and strife cannot follow,
Nor can cruel laser and cold gauss reach.
Where rolling hills of soft sun and velvet grasses embrace,
And quiet waters sooth your beleaguered soul.

Then, lay thee down MechWarrior,
Lay thee down and sleep.
Dream the dreams of victors…
Loose the silver cord…
And find your peace complete.

Fare thee well MechWarrior.
Fare thee well.

Fare thee well MechWarrior, Husband, Father, and Friend.

It's still hard to believe how he passed in such a freak accident.

This I remember ... even though I didn't know Neuro much at all ... beyond his shoutcasting and odd choices of music in said!

I have no idea about the incident - hell I didn't even know about MechWarrior back in 08 - but wow this got all sorts of emotions running all over me.

Just staggered about this post...

Thanks for that reminder of a good guy, as far as I can say, being a former member of the Mechwarrior Leagues Radio staff.

Had a great time getting on the show with these guys and girls. Godspeed.

It's now been 10 years this month since Brian passed. I think there was a Facebook post somewhere remembering him. Anyone have a link? Also, looks like the MechWarrior Leagues Facebook page is no more, but that is probably old news.

Some old names in this thread! I used to lurk about on the old MekTek forums a lot, and still remember the day MekTek dedicated this concept 'mech to Brian:

I never got to know Brian or his work with MWL, as I was but a new kid on the block then. However, I am quite grateful for his work in keeping MechWarrior alive in those years.
May you rest in peace, Brian, and thank you for all you did.
