It's like 6 years from closed beta, and player still needs external calculator, pencil & paper to determine how much and which types of ammo he has in his mech. What the ****?

How is it that hard? LRMs are 180+18+18 per ton, which is probably the hardest one to easily calculate, and most of us can do that math in our heads in a couple seconds...

Tell me again, why this little basic element should not be in UI?

Although trivially simple to calculate while assembling a loadout in the mech-lab, I do think we should have ammo counters in the same widget as displays the weapons equipped on a mech, that way we could see what's what without having to actually enter the mech-lab and count it all again.

Here is a clue to how much ammo you have. Enter into a match. Even a testing ground match. Look at the lower right hand corner to your screen where it shows your weapons. The amount of ammo you have--to the shell, bullet, or missile, is displayed there.
