In the words of an old drinking song I remember;

Here's a toast to the dead already and hurrah for the last man who dies.

You will be missed sir.

Sorry to hear about this. I have seen this stuff wreck and end lives including a 26 year old employee of mine who had just gotten a great promotion and started a lifelong career that would guarantee a comfortable life and retirement. Within three months of using this stuff he was dead and my every attempt to help him had failed. So sad to see. He left a 1 year old son and a girlfriend behind to try to cope with life without him.

He threatened to hunt me down and kill me once, seriously. But he provided hours of entertainment. Through an indirect way, he brought joy to people. RIP.

Indeed. In it's many forums. Hell the USA is in the grips of an insane opioid issue of unprecedented scale. Addiction is not joke. Regardless of CoD, it's unfortunate.

Oh I didn't mean to imply that it was a joke. I don't entirely understand the use of the phrase in this context. Did the player die of a heroin overdose?

I don't know the player, but it seems so. Also, apologies, I was not implying you took it as a joke, just was emphasizing how serious an issue we have with it in the USA. It's the dirty little secret, not as sexy as the other issues, etc, but probbably at the worst it's ever been here.

Not exactly a secret, it's received national attention. And if it has that much attention it's a good bet other industrialized nations know about it (I've gotten the impression that many Europeans know more about US current events than many of our own citizens do).

Granted, with the ludicrous 3 ring circus the US is right now, it's easy for things to slip by people's notice.

Eh they've been doing their all to deny and keep it on the hush hush. It might make pg 10, but it shoudl be front page.

Strange seeing a guy whom I liked but then came to dislike from his on-line behavior to have a human side of it all. Sorry to see he struggled through addiction during all this time. I've taken to / visited a few friends in rehab from opiods. Not a nice place to have to be. I feel for his family, while his struggle may have ended the hell they have lived over the years isn't quite done yet. Addiction is hard on the addict and just as hard often on family and friends. I hope his family finds peace they so certainly deserve. I wish I had known Assassins struggles. I remember a few times when he wasn't yelling at me he wanted to meet up to ride mountain bikes. The guy was often full of rage and anger but he had a side to him which cared as well. I'd have liked to have known that guy better the one whom wanted to get together to ride some trails.
