Peter Gabriel "Big Time". The lyrics fit perfectly. :)

There's got to be some talented musicians here. We could just make our own.

My favourite Rammstein track is "Engel" on "Live Aus Berlin", but I didn't suggest it because that whistling bit isn't very Steiner. :D

Interesting idea. What would make a song a Steiner song? There are a lot of examples of Rammstein posted here. Is it that genre that makes us think of Steiner or more along the lines of a German band singing in German? I do not know the logistics involved in the recording of a German vocal track, but the music we may be able to do.

Well, we're not all Germanic speaking people, actually, as noted in the first post but I'd still vote for Rammstein's Feuer Frei myself and German is the official language of the Commonwealth half of FedCom.

I support "Ode of joy". Lyran Commonwealth not military focused state.. and topic is "The Steiner Hymn", not "LCAF Hymn".

Or may be Waltz? Some thing like Blue Danube, Waltz of Flowers or Sleeping Beauty

I'm actually german, I suggest "Panzer Division Marduk" by Marduk.

No, just kidding.

Some Rammstein track would be cool, I'd show that the Lyrans have german roots, thats something special.

Just wait till we Skye folk roll out something in Gaelic and start shooting anyone playing Rammstein ;-)

What would we consider German roots and influences in a song? A certain sound, instrument, genre?

Thor's Hammer is a pretty stong anchor (nordic heritage). The link to Steiner is the McKennsy Hammer, the physically largest award, weighing in at nine kilograms of silver.

Quote

Physically the largest award issued by any military, the McKennsy Hammer takes the form of a nine-kilogram silver block hammer and is awarded for particularly effective leadership and battlefield skills, intended to represent the weight of responsibility such officers carry. Normally carried only on formal occasions, a silver miniature is also pinned to the right breast of the receipents dress uniform or school rag.

No. What is this 'Amerika' of which you speak? (Hint: it's got nothing to do with either FS or LC, really). And we're talking about something to play while we play... so it's a battle hymn, really. "Open Fire / Free Fire" makes perfect sense.

Well, I love everything sounding Epic, so I would favour Enya Tempus Vernum

If something more Germanic/central is wanted and not so Operatic, I'd recommend Laibach- Du Bist Unser, or Rammstein (I guess) but Stripped feels more battle Athemy to me.

I would caution against Wagner, that **** gets old fast.

1812 Overature.

From a German band: http://youtu.be/7O776QTU3sg Granted, it's about the sacking of Jericho, but then that could be even better.
