Also, if you're looking for semi-modern 6mm vehicles, GHQ sells a really good line of minis:

My main force - 1st Genyosha. Still in the process of being built up, but it's currently on hold...
The product of Lancepack Sword and Dragon - Davion
My Taurian Guards lance with Vehicle Support
And most recently, my 51st Shadow Division Level II
I'm currently working on a Second intro-box set for use in Demo games, which will be 8 and 8 split between the 7th Crusis lancers and 5th sword of light, and any leftovers will be painted up like Merc units. This should make the box work well in tandem with the old Sword and Dragon starterbook. I'm also halfway through painting up a bunch of old 3rd edition unseen plastics I got from a garage sale - those are currently on hold until I finish my demogame mechs.

You can find a whole bunch of "unseen" mechs' plastic scale models in 1/100, 1/60 and 1/72 scale produced by a number of Japanese scale model companies under their original Macross "disguise". I recall Hasegawa producing a range of Macross Valkyries (1/72), which you can build into a number of Stinger, Wasp, Valkyrie or Phoenix Hawk models from BT. Another Japanese producer Wave in the recent years released awesome models (1/72) of two of my favorites: Warhammer and Rifleman under their original Macross names of Tomahawk and Defender. Yet another Japanese company Yamato produces same mechs albeit in less popular 1/60 scale. Try checking HobbyLink Japan online hobby shop.

Once upon a time, Armorcast used to make "Museum scale" battletech miniatures. Don't know how big those were, but knew they were a fair bit bigger than Battletech minis, and I think they were made from Resin.
Alternately, I know that there have been several toys of Battletech released over the past few years. The Tyco toys for the Cartoon... there were a batch of toys (I think they were die-cast) of 'mechs released for sale of the Mechwarrior Dark-age series. Unfortunately, only the Madcat was very true to the original. Otherwise, I think that the other options were a Legionnaire and... a Jupiter?
As for plastic model kits in similar to the ones you can get for airplanes and tanks - there was never enough demand to merit producing something like that.

Heavily modified a reseen Marauder into a MAD-9M. Both Warhammer 8D's are built up from the 9S kit (and so have different torso lasers than the 8D mini's - but I like this look better)... Also rebuilt the SRM launcher on the Shadowhawk, to make it stand out better.

On that topic... nothing like playing Double Blind Battletech but it takes a lot of work.

Sword of Light lance, consisting of the new plastic minis - Grasshopper (launcher modified to make it a 5J), Panther, Dragon (fixed up the laser, and the main gun barrel - plan on running it as either a DRG-5N, or a 1G), and an old 'plastech' Hunchback, modded into a HBK-4SP
modded out the reseens for my fedsuns unit
- Marauder has new guns to make it match the art for the 5T
-Phoenix Hawk has a modded warhammer ppc, and new laserbarrels to make it a 6D
-Thunderbolt has a modded warhammer ppc, and the launcher bit off of a Wasp - to make it a 10SE

I don't seem to have pictures of my Ice Hellions or Jade Falcons online anywhere. I do have a couple of the "personalities" I've done:
Yen-Lo-**** complete by feor, on Flickr
Adam Steiner Above by feor, on Flickr
And I'm actually waiting on bits from IWM so I can finish Star Colonel Nikolai Malthus
And here's a maniple of Marians I did at one point, IV Legio, Fire Support Maniple.
support Maniple by feor, on Flickr
Also, my personal mercenary command, the Pocket Monstrocies Mercenary Company.
Command Lance, with their Dropship, the "Poker Ball":
Pocket Monstrocities Command Lance by feor, on Flickr
Left to right Great Squirtle, Urbie-Chu, Bulblue Flame, and Chari-gon
Ghost Lance, my Force Recon team:

L to R: Sho-Gar, Gast Ball, Dustclops, and Ninj-cada
and the first half of my air-support, a Spearrow Hawk:
Spearrow Hawk by feor, on Flickr
The order with the Bits to do Malthus will also include the mini so I can paint up a Scytha-er to pair off with the Spearrow Hawk.
Then at some point when I have a bit more disposable income I'll get the stuff to build myself a PNT Pantheowth, Nova Persian, SNK-1V Snak-bok, and a Mad Two. Allowing my to complete Rocket Lance and fill out the dropship.
