So, what are the predictions as to how it will perform? I wasn't around when it was announced.

it does seem pretty much dead on arrival

unless you bought the hero with the energy hardpoints, then its okay

the problem is the huge oversized engine forces you to depend heavily on lightweight energy weapons

but the only variant that gets enough energy hardpoints is the hero one

Can't shield STs and wish more slots in STs but should be a good mech.

It'll be decent at the bare minimum. It's all high mounts, with better hardpoint options and far more available podspace at the same tonnage and top speed as the Summoner because it has less locked equipment (only the four DHS in the engine) and comes with endo and ferro... works out to ~30-33ish tons of podspace, IIRC, depending on whether you need the arms or not. The only two options it doesn't have are JJs and ultra-high-alpha pure laservomit (Gaussvomit is still on the menu, though). The torso looks pretty compact, so it shouldn't be overly fragile even though it doesn't have shield arms, but how good or bad its hitboxes really are obviously can't be nailed down until we've got a chance to get shot in it.

I'm calling it as "respectably solid, but not cheesy."

Some theorycrafting here:

Free mech's loadout is here. You won't qualify for it if you weren't around last December, but it may be useful to others:

My recommendation is to go watch Kanajashi's "should you buy" series on YouTube. I find them entertaining, even when I disagree.

I feel like people call 'high' anything above the waist these days.

Torso mounts are actually not high, they are warhammer level "high" but not battlemaster level high. But anyway, you need either hero or reinforcement pack to get omnipods with really good ballistic or energy arms.

"in before the lock" makes no sense when you started the topic

It's no more overengined than the Timber Wolf. In fact given it's lighter the engine to tonnage is slightly better.

Yep. Also it uses all of the heatsink slots that provides, which is like 8 more slots on a mech with ferro and endo. :3
