The Arms of the Nightstar are stupidly far away from its torso. It is a stupid mech model and it does not make any sense. the convergence is absolute garbage at anything closer than 200 meters. Completely pointless and poorly thought out mech design that PGI sold for real money.

It's Battletech. Visuals over practicality. If you don't like it, you're not gonna have a good time very often here.

I would agree, but that original art is just so phenomenally bad. And the Clanners want to return to the Star League that designed this abomination? No thank you.

lol that drawing looks nothing like the nightstar. The point is that PGI took your money and gave you some worthless [Redacted]. PGI hasnt cared for original art in the past. why would they suddenly care now?

Sorry you don't like it, but if you research threads here on the forum for each mech, you'll know it's strengths and weaknesses.

The Nightstar is known for it's stunning good looks, the tremendous punishment it can take, and inability to hurt a fly :D

Almost all of the designs PGI has produced are pretty faithful to the original art.

And really, if you were surprised by the arms, that's on you. The original art had wide arms. The concept art had wide arms. The count down pictures had wide arms (Though the arms actually were changed from the count down stuff). If you payed money for this any stage of the process and were surprised, that's not PGI's fault.

I agree the mech as an Assault is pretty garbage, needs Thanatos type fixes, i stopped using mine, another wasted group of mechbays..

Granted, I would have preferred the arms to be angled down a bit as they were originally prior to release, but overall it still doesn't look that bad. Given the original TRO pic is laughable, the re-design looks great by way of comparison. Things could be much worse, for instance, they could have left the Kintaro as presented in the TRO...

Most of the TRO art is a dumpster fire of awfulness.

Except when it's hilarious.

To wit:

Posted Image

The Nightstar's TRO art may be terrible, but at least it looks like a 'Mech and not some kind of wacky cyborg chocobo. The art and modeling for 'Mechs in MWO, except in a tiny handful of cases, is head and shoulders (and torso, and legs, and the next six or seven meters underground beneath that) above anything you'll find in the TROs.

In LORE, regardless of whether your gun is over your head or [Redacted], the same dice roll is made to determine whether you hit or not.

Unfortunately...

yeah MWOs reimagineing [Redacted] all over the TROs, half of them look like Cyborgs or Gundams. in fact i can think of only one TRO i ever liked the look of was the Bloodkite. Awesome looking pile of industrial ****.

i would link the image but i hate the way this site works, so damn annoying trying to link images.

Also add the Bloodkite, its not really unique or anything but it could look awesome

There is no way in hell that mech survives the transition to MWO's unified aesthetic.

Can agree that the Nightstar underperforms compared to other mechs in its weight class, but mainly because alot of IS assaults get torso buffs and the Nightstar gets little... with the design the torso take a lot of damage first since you don't get very good shield arms. Mine are parked in the mechbay until I figure out why I like them over my other assaults.

funny that most people find the nightstar so good looking must be it's design it's exactly how modern looks like.

For me, it's the left torso mount.

A beautiful, nearly perfect symmetrical design. And then for some reason, that left gun mount decides get lazy and blow up my OCD.

Nightstar is one of the better assault mechs.

High mounted dual gauss on actuated arms with lasers and structure buffs. You aim and fire, your target is already half dead unless you missed.
